I resisted it yesterday, but I watched the first 10 minutes or so of the #leadersDebate just now, and I think even if you just watch the first 5min of it you get a pretty good sense of the players involved, their personalities and strengths and weaknesses.
That's one minute from the three federal parties, and a few seconds of the Bloc Quebecois leader saying he normally refuses to speak English while in Montreal, but he's making an exception for the debate. lol

Cool, cool. So you’d rather not know about threats to national security than know but not be able to divulge them? Will you also want to share these secrets as Prime Minister?

Carney’s question is a good one and it’s exactly what it needed to be. Mr Poilievre, why do you refuse to get security clearance?
Poilievre responds that when he was a minister (which he’s been at pains to remind us over and over again was a DECADE ago), he had security clearance, so obviously it’s not a problem.
Cool, cool. So whatever the reason, it’s something more recent.

From what I can tell from the debate, the "leader" of the CPC is really an early AI (before LLMs) set up to spit out a set of memorized slogans. I presume there's an analytics team in the background somewhere gathering like/dislike responses from focus groups in real time, so they can try to figure out which slogan will get them back to the top of the polls and roll that out into ads targeted at a grade 4 education level.
If this was a movie, it would be funny. Instead it's just pathetic. Pathetic on the part of the CPC, and even more so on the part of people who still think this robot is capable of running the country.

Blanchet has been salty at Carney on what has felt like a personal level all the way through this. I think we’ve finally got to the heart of the matter as Blanchet just said Carney has never called him. He’s met with the premiers but not with him.

Seriously, is there anything Canadian oil and gas can’t do? It fixes climate change. It stops Putin in his tracks. It brings world peace.
Will it solve world hunger? Cure cancer? Train my dog?

And yet, now he seems to have experience doing just that with the covid crisis so he has warmed to the idea and is now for it.
This was the first reason that I started calling for Singh to resign, and it clearly no longer applies. #leadersdebate #resignh
