Just bragging once more about the really cool game some friends and I have created last weekend for #ldjam 59:
"Baywatcher" is a first person puzzle game where you signal manifold ships with flares to prevent collisions.

I think that in every hackathon, in every game jam usage of AI, not "should", MUST be prohibited.
Imagine if someone decides to use doping during Olympics/other sports event. You will be mad because they won't be using their own skill to compete with others.
Even if we ignore the fact that all game jam entries made by AI or heavily AI assisted is nothing but a fucking slop it's just not fair to people who come here for a skill check, thing that game jams are for.

Hmm. I just read a game description entirely in Spanish. 🤔 Did web browsers that auto-translate every website they visit become a thing recently? And are they good enough now that you don't even need to know English? 😮 #LDJam

Tangentially, I have also seen a HUGE uptick in new user game descriptions containing Chinese text (and folks with qq emails). 🤔 I don't know why. 🤷 And yes the do seem to be legit. Seeing Chinese text isn't anything new, but I'm just surprised at how much more there seems to be now. #LDJam
-
I'll be honest, I'm not thrilled by the number of times I've seen "ChatGPT" and "Claude" mentioned by the new #LDJam users accounts I've been reviewing... but at least folks aren't hiding it. 🤷
-
"a game about finding a WiFi signal". Wow, I love that premise. 😊 #LDJam

-
i've already seen two "games" on #LDJam using exactly the pixel font and even same colours and CSS effects from a typical ai generated web game

I did it and I can't be happier about it.
My #LudumDare59 entry is published. Let me present you with n0minal, a short horror game with a very simple gameplay.
It's my first attempt at anything narrative with a proper sound design.

well there is never enough time for all the polish I want to get into one of these games, but I’m pretty darn happy with it for 30-odd hours’ work. will add video of the final thing later once I’m not hideously tired. in the meantime: try it out for yourself! #ldjam https://mahalis.itch.io/lock

deadline is in 2.5 hours (💀) but I have a test build up already—it’s playable in your browser, even on mobile! keyboard controls are WASD or arrows to rotate the selected thing, and Space or Enter to change the selection. password for the page is “swordfish”. #ldjam https://mahalis.itch.io/ld59

been making a game for #ldjam all weekend but have been too busy doing that to post anything about it. coming along, though! the theme is “Signal”; my game is a puzzle where you’re trying to align an artifact and lenses to match a grid of lasers pointed at it.
