#LazyMastodon Is there a way to get the Mastodon web client to show alt text when it's displaying the large version of an image or video? I always have to switch back and forth between the large version and the containing post to (a) look at it, (b) read about it.

Any #mechanical engineers out there who have a good book on interlocking wire/rod designs? Or other resources? I'm thinking of 3d structures to make things ridgid. e.g. show me a book with tricks like the mechanism seen in the attached image.

I'm thinking of spring locking mechanisms, assembly, disassembly, rigid triangle structures, etc.

I tried a draft of the shape. Attached a circle sketch to the end point with a datum plane, and tried to use AdditivePipe to get it to go brrr...

Hypothetical: If an old lady, like my mom, missed the Olympic figure skating yesterday and wanted to watch it today. How would she go about getting a recording of the full program to watch tonight. If she were to get it from a torrent tracker or something like that for local download, what would be the exact steps should would be taking so I could warn her not to go down that route to avoid violating any copyright laws.

My wife is on corporate social media and gets ads for Skylight, a touchscreen display to help families keep their calendars straight. Their advertising seems to work well because she's gunning to buy it.

The ads promise the world. Happy family, kids engaged, doing chores, magical meal planning, etc.

I don't like the idea of a single use ewaste device with a monthly subscription.

Alternatives? Linux or Android would be ideal.

I have had several follow me. They don't actually send me a message or try to interact.

I'd love to support Palestinians in need. But it seems like accounts like this are being professionally managed, and misrepresenting what's going on. Once I recognize the deceit in their presentation, why would I trust them with my money?

No? Why? Because #lazyai isn't a thing. The whole reason #lazyweb and #lazymastodon works is because of people. (Actually, that's also the whole reason #AI works also, but that's another story.)

Do you remember #VOIP? Voice-over-IP? I used to do IPOV: I'd call up a dorky friend who I knew was sitting next to a real computer and ask them for whatever I wanted: Way better than any digital assistant!

The cheapest VPSes get 48 to 64 bit subnets; blocking individual addresses can't be the solution, but neither can be blocking a complete /64 residential or mobile access network when a single address in there misbehaves.

I have a design with four "top levels" and cvc seems to chose the first one in the compile order. I would like to specify one explicitly.

I'm using the open version of the tool, so don't have paid support.

Dear #lazymastodon and #retrogaming folks. I had a request from a friend who has a bar with a game room who is looking to buy industrial/commercial/military/kid-proof/pro strength arcade machines?

He would love a solid console or few that might let you play a bunch of old classic games. He would set it to allow free play.

I know you can buy joysticks and buttons etc. and build/buy #misterfpga stuff etc. But he isn't a maker and would prefer to just buy an indestructible and awesome machine.

#LazyMastodon, from time to time I look up how to take an image "posterize" it with #Python (easy with #Numpy) but then I'd like to extract polygonal contours of each colored region (idealy #shapely Polygons). My #OpenCV skills are not very good so I usually fail at this last step. What else should I try to learn? From the tutorials I found, nothing really "clicks". Any suggestions?

FWIW, I tried esbuild, but because it is too strict with ESM semantics the performance of the bundle suffered a bit.
