Oh, wow, here we go again 🙁: "Nordic Semiconductor today announces a strategic resource realignment that includes a global workforce reduction of approximately 8% of the company’s total workforce."

With ~1400 employees, that means ~112 will be laid off.

Mass firings at Gameloft. It's alleged that following an internal meeting between all employees at the Cluj-Napoca branch of Gameloft on May 13, over 200 people will be laid off, and the branch will be shut down following June 10.

It's really trippy seeing all of these tech companies promoting hiring when months ago they were laying people off. How can you believe anyone would trust your leadership with their livelihood, now?

CW: Media, redundancies
After declaring bankruptcy just after execs gorged themselves on bonuses, the strategy to rescue Vice is, uh, firing hundreds of employees and closing their website.

I'm genuinely excited about these #cellularIoT news, because it gives me real hope that the downsizing we went through last year could be the only one needed. It gives my colleagues and me a positive outlook for this year.
And I work on both these products. So.

few months ago I did an interview for a similar role in a big fully remote company, after the first stage they ghosted me, no feedback no results nothing.
At the beginning of this year they laid off a few hundred people (source: https://layoffs.fyi/), this week they reached out to me again because my profile is perfect for their growing team.
I answered "oh I thought you laid off people? also you ghosted me last time?"
result: I am being ghosted again.
Wtf is happening?

Last year I started working on a project with a friend. It is called Career Helix: https://www.careerhelix.com/
We wanted to build something that would help people organize their job search journey. Career Helix is still in its infancy but is ready to begin supporting users. Please give it a try or share with someone you think would benefit from a tool like this. It would be greatly appreciated. Thx! ♥️

Great news! 🍾 I just learned that the junior I originally hired to my current employer as a student and who was let go as part of the #layoffs2024 end of November after having just started as a graduate engineer, has just found a new engineering role in #Oslo 🇳🇴.

Fearing social media backlash, companies are using all kinds of euphemisms to avoid being straightforward about layoffs. ‘Jargon monoxide’

It seems that after the #layoffs2024 Nordic Semiconductor is in need to fill some open positions again and is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Test Developer in #Trondheim or #Oslo 🇳🇴 : https://careers.nordicsemi.com/jobs/3599668-senior-embedded-software-test-developer

In lights of many #layoff news, especially in #tech, I want to mention one thing that I rarely see being reported on: Mass layoffs are virtually always happening due to management mistakes.
So instead of “an ethereal entity called $Company ʼdecidedʼ to lay off people”, I'd rather read “Also managers at $Company have to admit strategic errors, resulting in layoffs”.
This, for me, also means that management should be the first and hardest ones to be impacted by the consequences.

I am once again a free agent.
I'm okay. Just a bit surprised and disappointed. Worried for the rest of the team.
