  1. Not feeling well tonight but I would like to put in a word for Marie-Anne Paulze Lavoisier and her research on oxygen and combustion and more generally moving chemistry from art to science, more or less as we know it today. I recognize her more famous husband was also involved but it was her money, her time, her translations, her art, her criticisms and support that made it work. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie-An #oxygen #Lavoisier #InternationalDayOfWomenAndGirlsInScience #chemistry

  2. 1771-1774: Priestley, Scheele, and Lavoisier separately discovered oxygen, although only Lavoisier was not bound by phlogiston theory in explaining combustion. Oxygen: atomic number: 8; weight: 15.999; Diatomic nonmetal #Poetry #Science #History #Combustion #Oxygen #Priestley #Scheele #Lavoisier (sharpgiving.com/thebookofscien)
