  3. The paper-making industry would inspire the creation of nori (海苔) in the 18thC.
Using similar techniques to paper production, seaweed was shredded, moulded and dried on racks, creating sheets of edible algae.
Nori would come to play an important role in Japanese cuisine🙌

[SUNG GYUNG] Twice roasted Korean seaweed are durable. We made homemade samgak kimbap. We use plastic wrap to easily shape filled rice balls with less mess. The seaweed is sturdy & doesn't tear or rip when being cut into the desired size. It adds a fresh caught flavor & holds the filled rice balls perfectly. It's not tough to eat.

  11. I'm really not sure how I feel about these 'Korean BBQ' kim. Kim, laver; call them what you will, these tasty roasted seaweed sheets are great as an accompaniment or snack in its own right.

I'm fairly 'traditionalist' when it comes to some(??) food items and would generally just buy the 'seasoned' version of these, occasionally going mad and getting the 'green tea' flavoured ones, but BBQ?

However, as I'm trying do things I normally wouldn't, I bought some. I quite like them, as a snack. The BBQ flavour is quite strong, I think if I were to try them with a meal I'd probably find them too overpowering. Perhaps a very well seasoned Korean BBQ, but then why would you want something fake and sweet?

Anyway, this was just to say I'm still coming to terms with trying something I would normally turn my nose up at, and liking it.

However, can I just remind you that I will quietly/loudly judge kimchi that contain carrots, and never positively.
