Crimea has the distinction of being the site of the last remnants of two formerly great empires.
In 1475, the Ottoman Empire took the last remaining principality of the Byzantine Empire, the Roman Empire that survived the fall of Rome.
Then in 1783, the Russians overran the Crimean Khanate, a leftover from the Mongol Empire.

My sister is putting a single wide home next to ours, same yard, where our first home was (an ancient trailer) so along with digging all that out and trenching for a new waterline from our house to the well and back, we are getting a new well pump and pressure tank.
It's been 38 years on that same set up, so it's time.
Reasonable price for the water stuff---and it's the last time we'll ever have to do it.
Getting older sometimes has these moments even in my 60's that are the "last time we ever have to do that."
