I think I've said something like this before, but imagine a company like #Larian declaring that any time a game of theirs makes above a certain level of profit, they will immediately reinvest a certain amount of those profits into making that game as accessible as possible: a version for blind players, a version for deaf players where all the characters speak to each in sign language, a version that can be enjoyed by people with intellectual disabilities, et cetera et cetera. #accessibility

Hey, did you enjoy Baldur's Gate 3? Do you want more of the same design philosophy with fresh characters and underlying systems? Good news! GOG has Larian's Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition on sale for $11.25.
You don't need to have played any of the previous Divinity games, and I won't argue you should. They're very much... of their time, and much harder to enjoy these days. D:OS2 does a great job of building out its own world independent of the existing lore.
D:OS2 doesn't use the D&D5e system or the Forgotten Realms but don't worry, the system they use is very good.
This game was why they got to build BG3. But that doesn't mean it's just an audition; it's a wonderful story and game by its own merits.

DOS2 is a very good game, but pre-BG3 Larian is basically pre-CK3 Paradox: "Here are 234 mechanics that we will point and laugh at you for not knowing how they work. And that's AFTER you do the tutorial".
