Today, again, I played HVAC engineer. Furnace controller blew a relay; building was without heat. Contractors in #Laramie are scarce, slow, and expensive. I diagnosed; drove 90 miles round trip to Cheyenne; picked up new board; traced wires; decoded cryptic instructions; drilled. 1/2

The #Laramie city staff seems bent on making it impossible for citizens or businesses to get ANYTHING done without spending many thousands of extra dollars or PLEADING for special exceptions... and Council goes right along and indulges the bureaucrats. Laramie is becoming crippled by needless overregulation, and it will harm us.

Today, I tried to get a plumber to make a vital repair in #Laramie. No luck. There's a shortage due to a bad city licensing ordinance. The firms that remain are booked for weeks and refuse to do even emergency work. I was hesitant to take on the project, but there wasn't much choice. So, I rolled up my sleeves, broke into a wall (with the help of my wife wielding a box knife and hammer), and dug in. Fortunately, a local hardware store had the parts (they often don't), and I fixed it.
