Their conversation is related to my novel. Rhaski noticed that Zhaikes' behavior around the human is suspicious to say the least, and he indulges in teasing him about it :')

Despite being a stern grump with a no-nonsense attitude, #Zhaikes falls hard for a human woman, a sarcastic sunshine named Lara <3
She ends up on his space ship rather involuntarily and becomes his problem from day one. And trust me when I say, it's not love at first sight.

And you are right about Lara too, her stuttering does imply fear. She sought out Sorrax as a last resort and knows about his dangerous nature (to some extent). But she also needs him to help her.

I once mentioned he's an alien "doctor", with a penchant for alterations, adaptations and.. experiments. No questions asked. No regrets.

I drew this in my #sketchbook, with fineliners and without planning anything out 😅 Next time I'd like to pay more attention to the positioning of the characters and the speech bubbles. If you have any feedback, I'm happy to hear it!

Not Inktober, but an experiment with #Procreate.
I wanted to try another shading approach, with color & light.
Unfortunately, Lara looks a bit like a zombie here - whoops 😅

Wondering about her eyes? Originally they were blue & human, but when she mentioned she can't see well in the dark, she got an (involuntary) upgrade 😆
To Rhaski's defense, in the world of Zhor Khat, changing her eyes is like handing her a pair of glasses.

Remember the sleepy gal who was dozing on [#Zhaikes]' shoulder? That's her - she's fine! :)
[Lara] isn't exactly the poser-type, but I couldn't help it. Oh, and [Karbes] is the ship's "artificial personality", so basically an AI with way too many "lively" features for a created being.

oh and about Lara (#LaraHollis) - she is the main character of that story. many parts are written from her POV. that's how I can "show" the world from a human perspective. the other characters (who have a POV) are alien.

POV = "point of view" (from whose perspective a narrative is told). in my story this is chapter-dependent.

…but they also build clean, angular structures, which makes the ship a strange combination of organic and synthetic parts. they even grow their cloths and their “machines”. thus, the words “organic” and “synthetic” have long since lost their distinct meanings.

PS.: the doors aren’t visible, because human eyes can’t differentiate enough shades of green to see them~
