Exhausted after #LaraconAU last week, but excited by how it all went!
I was so proud of everyone in my workshop on Wednesday - everyone had a go, and the excitement in the room as they hacked through challenges made it all worth it.
And my talk on Friday was the most absurd and crazy thing I've done on stage (which is saying something), and I've had some great feedback that's already made it worth it. No idea what I'll do next year...

Excited to report that I've had a lot of interest for a Laravel Security Workshop at Laracon AU, so I'm looking into venues for a half-day on Wed morning (12th Nov), so you just have to come a day early! 🎉
If you're interested and want to keep in the loop, I've popped up an announcements mailing list: https://workshop.valorinsecurity.com

Ok Aussie & NZ friends, would anyone be interested in coming to a half or full day security workshop in Brisbane the week before #LaraconAU (i.e. Mon, Tues, or Wed)? 🤓
If there is enough interest, I'll start looking for a venue and figure out pricing, etc.

w00t! My Laracon AU talk is online!
I'm super proud of how this one turned out, given it started as a "vulnerabilities I'm sick of seeing everywhere" rant!

This one is somewhat appropriate after my #LaraconAU talk:
Dependencies are security risks, especially if you have a lot of them or don't keep them updated. Remove the ones you don't need, and update the rest!

If it is of interest to anyone I'm building flappy bird with @joe.codes's Chewy wrapper of @jessarcher.bsky.social's Laravel Prompts library on my way home from #LaraconAU just for fun. Not likely to finish it, but we'll see how far I can get. github.com/AndrewFeeney...

Here's my Summary slide for those who wanted a copy (plus the QR code to all my links). 😁
Thanks for laughing at all of my terrible jokes, and for putting up with my obsessing over the word "intentional" on stage. 🤣
Thanks for having me, #LaraconAU!

Feels kinda weird to not be going to the airport during Laracon week, but it's very exciting to have Laracon AU right here in Brisbane! 🎉
And since I'm speaking, tradition states that Securing Laravel has a sale:

Took me an embarrassingly long time and a bunch of false turns, but I finally have a working Evil Portal on my Flipper! The question is: how to best deploy it at #LaraconAU? 😈
(Turns out I had it setup right the first time, but outdated docs sent me in the wrong direction!)

Any fedi-folks heading to LaraconAU?

With Laracon AU sneaking up on us, it's time for me to refresh my "Laravel Security Audit Top 10 Issues" list from April 2023! I'm very curious to see if anything has moved around from last time. 🕵️
What issues do you think will be at the top this time? 🤔

Well it's out there now... I'm headed to Brisbane in November 2024 for #LaraconAU.
Super excited to be back!

What an ace talk by @martyfriedel about Statamic at #LaraconAU!
Lots of tips and valuable insights into how it benefits both developers and users.
The recording is now finally available on YouTube:

Here are my first impressions using Statamic for my own site.
It's built on Laravel, and has some unique ideas for how to create a static website!

Encryption is two way.
Hashing is one way.
Laravel has built in support for hashing and encryption.
But how safe is that, really? Someone in your organisation might still be able to access that information.
Consider where keys are stored & who has access to those keys.
If you have valuable information you will be hacked. Eventually. Whether you know it or not.
