  1. Having a gloriously lazy day here, but a tiny professional PSA from your friendly neighbourhood linguist:

If any of you know of any work in translation, editing, proofreading, copywriting, content production, or anything similarly word-shaped, please let me know. 💜

Yes, I'll do language teaching as well. :)

I’m going to need some work over the next few weeks, so if you hear of anything, even a “hey, have you considered this?”, send it my way.

My bank account and I would both be extremely grateful. 😅

    Signal boost appreciated. 🫶

  2. VITAL INFO WHEN POSTING TRANSLATION JOBS

If your business posts translation gigs on freelance platforms, always specify the basics of the project. Otherwise, translators won’t know whether to bid on it, especially on platforms that don’t let us ask questions first.

Here's my list of key information to include:

  3. My latest on LinkedIn: These days, my fellow translators are posting about AI and little else. The posts tend towards one of two ideas: "AI is your friend—there’s nothing to worry about" or "Our profession is doomed! Dooooooomed!" Both are exaggerations.

We can survive as language professionals in the AI era, but must make adjustments.

    Here's my approach...

  4. As the character in "Cabaret" sang, "What good is sitting alone in your room...?" 🎶 So now for the first time, I'm making a point to get out of my translation office and am going to all sorts of events where direct clients can be found: conferences, trade shows, and lots of in-person networking events.

And so, for the first time in ages, I've had physical business cards printed. It feels like an almost retro thing to do. 😃
