I ended up shelving #Wokabulary in favour of #Anki. Mainly because the #SRS in Anki felt smarter tbh. Having an app tell you "come back in five weeks" after you picked "yes, know it" a few times feels weird when youre used to "again | hard | good | easy" scheduling markers.

Anki still isn't as granular as #WaniKani / #Tsurukame but it feels like an Achievement to have a growing deck!

(I'm happy to share the deck but it's a growing, breathing work in progress that will eventually have all on #Lingodeer Japanese 1 after I get through that course. It also uses Anki TTS because I don't have recordings for the words)

I'm on day 5 of learning Polish using the Drops app. I've requested "Polish for Dummies" and "Złotowłosa i trzy misie/Goldilocks and the three bears" through my local library. I've also very optimistically purchased an eBook copy of the Cyberiada by Stanisław Lem.

So far, it's nifty how much my high school French class seems to help with Polish--like, knowing French "quelle heure est-il" makes it easier to learn Polish "kiedy". I don't know if that makes sense linguistically or if it's just my brain having more options to make connections along. #polishlanguage #happy #languagelearner

Do you sometimes have more trouble than you should when an exercise requires to translate a single sentence without any context? Or when only asked to do "as shown in the example" and you aren't sure you understood what was asked from you, even though (that is important) it is something you would have no trouble with saying in context? I added Anki / Wokabulary to my tool belt because I feel like I should do some SRS based vocabulary practice for what lingodeer feeds me in new words.

Now there's WaniKani for Kanji, Lingodeer for grammar / vocab / general learning and Wokabulary for vocab drills.

(and Anki for the occasional Hiragana / Katakana reminder - I might migrate my Wokabulary list to it if I can find a way to have it do TTS).

I have a love hate relationship with Norwegian. It is fine written but I'm your cliché French who's super bad with accents - and spoken Norwegian and written Norwegian are like two differents languages when you're not used to it. I'll try to find some audio children content to familiarise myself with the sounds and the rhythm of the language! Maybe even songs, if anyone has recommandations
