Working on ageing tree cores from Dairy Wood near Moffat for @bordersforesttrust to help unravel the history of the wood and inform its future conservation management.

This is part of an ash core under the microscope, revealing its lovely clear ring-porous tree-ring structure.

A recently published study by ROOTS scientific coordinator Andrea Ricci offers new perspectives on landscape and settlement development in northern Mesopotamia from the 5th to 3rd millennium BCE. It reveals that small villages situated away from the river played a pivotal role in shaping the region's settlement patterns. I'm a landscape archaeologist based in Rome. I did my PhD on spatial distribution of #IronAge archaeological sites along the Euphrates.

Currently, I am working on #remotesensing tools applied to #culturalheritage and #landscapearchaeology in #WesternAsia.

I have been an #R and #QGIS user for a few years now, and love everything about them.

I’m an #archaeologist with an interest in #theory, #landscapearchaeology, #GIS, #remotesensing, #Neolithic archaeology, digital archaeology, human-animal relations and material culture studies. I teach data science and remote sensing coursesand work as a LiDAR analyst.

I also talk about Lacanian psychoanalysis, philosophy, climate crisis and Anthropocene, my hobbies, books, woodworking, retrocomputing, BEAM robotics, and my cottage in the Slovenian Alps.
