The Trojan asteroids are clustered around the L4 and L5 positions of the Sun-Jupiter system.

The Trojan (green) and Hilda (red) groups as viewed in a reference frame that rotates with Jupiter.

The in-and-out movement of Jupiter represents its elliptical orbit from perihelion to aphelion, and you can track the orbits of at least some of the green dots around the L4 and L5 positions.

#LagrangePoints And Why You Want To Get Stuck At Them
Within Earth-Sun system, there are five Lagrange points (L1–L5), only Moon’s L2 currently has number of spacecraft crowding about, with NASA’s THEMIS satellites going through their extended mission observations, alongside the Chinese relay satellite Queqiao-2 which supported the Chang’e 6 sample retrieval mission and the #JamesWebb Space #Telescope (#JWST)

  3. Congress recommends placing assets at #LagrangePoints
Lagrange points are positions in #space where gravitational forces of a two-body system balance, Of five Lagrange points, three are unstable, and two stable. L1 and L2, are useful because of proximity to #Moon. Although not entirely gravitationally stable, #spacecraft can fly "halo" orbit around these locations and maintain their position.

  5. What Makes Lagrange Points Special Locations In Space

Lagrange Points are special locations in planetary systems where gravitational and rotational forces cancel out. Sometimes we find asteroids or dust clouds lingering near these places.

Space missions may use some of these locations for spacecraft as they offer many advantages over orbiting in the Earth directly.
