LaCie external USB-C drive I use as my secondary backup has just died. Poor quality crap.
So. I use a 4Tb Thunderbolt drive with Time Capsule (always connected when I’m using my laptop), and create a weekly drive image to this second drive using Carbon Copy Cloner. So it’s had minimal use since I bought the laptop in 2024. Say 100 uses.
Except this is a replacement for the original which failed inside six months. So two drives from LaCie fail, both under 2 years old, both minimal usage.
No more LaCie for me then.

As suggested by @shyra , I tried the #lacie #silverlining drivers (found a bootable #system7 drive with the drivers already installed on #machintoshgarden) and in fact I was able to read and write to the #bluescsi emulated disk without errors!
Unfortunately I still cannot boot from the disk: I got a plethora of different errors after the "Welcome to macintosh"... -

I have a Lacie 2big TB2 RAID enclosure that works perfectly well BUT only has 2x 3TB drives (in RAID 0, so 6TB - data safety is of no concern).
Question: Lacie's max supported drives are just 8TB. I'd love to go big with the Seagate Exos 20TB drives. Possible? Is it a hardware limitation of the controller chip or something? Or was 8TB simply the maximum when they last updated the compatibility chart?

My two 1TB #Lacie #HardDrives that require being plugged in to operate do not sound great when turned on. (Not that they ever sounded fantastic.) They’ve never given me problems to be fair but I just know they’re gonna blip out one of these days. Looks like it’s #upgrading time soon-ish. Anyone got any recommendations for decent/decently priced external #SSDs? Thunderbolt/USB-C would be nice.
