In one #dog breed, selection for utility may have selected for #obesity
#LabradorRetrievers are common #pets, but they also work as service dogs, aiding people with sight or hearing impairments. Unfortunately, the breed is particularly prone to getting #overweight, and this tendency apparently is more severe in Labradors purpose-bred for service.
Selecting trainable dogs may have gotten us dogs that would do anything for a treat.

The newly arrived dogs range in age from nine-weeks to three-years and include #LabradorRetrievers and #PitBull mixes. They’ll be available for adoption following their state-mandated quarantine and after receiving any medical care they may need.

Unfortunately, our partner shelters are struggling with flooding and still need to make space for animals displaced by the storm, so we’re bringing up five dogs from Horry County tomorrow, including Rollo, a sweet two-year-old #GermanShepherd 2/

Had a touch of food poisoning yesterday and forgot to write my 3 good things. Here’s for yesterday and today:

1) Being able to sleep as long as I wanted to this morning
2) Watching a friend’s lab puppy have zoomies in my backyard
3) My partner offering to make me anything at all I wanted for dinner (on account of my unhappy stomach)
