This is not **News** per se, by which I mean this is not a new development. In one form or another, precarious agricultural workers have been take *to the cleaners* over the centuries (from Australia’s colonial past to the present #NeoLiberal #NeoColonialism). Wherever there’s a buck to be made by skipping around laws and regulations, there is sure to be some clever arsehole that comes up with a scheme to vaccum up easy cash. That, is the state our society has come down to and some of the worst perpetrators of this *financial fraud* are #LabourHire companies. They provide nothing that can’t be had by other more equitable schemes and skim the cream off the top for the privilege of screwing workers. ** A pox on all their houses.**

Good work Michael West. BHP is an evil company.Just pay your workers when they are injured. Using Labour hire companies does don’t exempt you when workers are injured at work.

It's common for businesses to exploit "labour hire" arrangements. People who do work for the business are nominally employed by a $2 company. If something goes wrong, the nominal employer can be liquidated, leaving nothing for the employees.
It looks like fraud to me. Our politicians are complicit.

Debt is a very useful tool for #humanTrafficking and poaching workers from less developed countries.
Once in spiralling #debt, a person can often be tricked into travel that could destroy their family unit, and compel the person into doing intensely bad things. All by someone gaining their confidence and telling them, "you could pay off your debt".
Debt is appearing more frequently in discussions, and that can only be a good thing.
