  1. @davidstirrup

#labour largely shedding #farLeft entryists - not sure the rest of us will miss them so long as the dismal record of #4GeDefeats is ended

Better a cautious #labourGovt with power than #doctrinalPurity on the #opposition benches enabling #braverman et al wreak havoc

  2. @NBarreyre

I see lots of comments saying much the same

Q1: Was the Blair/Brown period a net plus or net minus when compared to the alternative, more #Major style #toryGovt?

Q2: Will #starmer #labourGovt be better or worse than more #sunak #kipperTory rule?

Q3: From this point, at max 2 yrs before #nextGE, what exactly can be done to alter course?

I understand reasoned criticism of #starmer & co for being too bland or deferring to #nativism - but they are #neverTory

  3. @PMPMagazine

electing a #ukGovt that is NOT committed to the idiocy of #brexit is itself a form of "success" for those of us who see it for what it is.

    That means #labour

After 4 years of #labourGovt we may see a an exit from this national disaster emerge - that would never happen under the #toriesOut who are now all #kippers

  4. @jmkc

You mistake the lack of a commitment to what you seek with a commitment to the opposite.

#starmer is tactically right to avoid unacheivable promises - or any reasons for #ToriesOut to bellow #brexitBetrayal at him

After 4 years of the next #labourGovt the picture may be different.....

  5. @lynnejones

I think you simply do not like #Starmer so are not prepared to see any merit. #Labour are in power in #Wales so have implemented good policies; the same will be the case in the #UK as it was under #Blair - that it is not enough for the #farLeft is a problem for them - frankly no electable #LabourGovt would ever be enough for some

  6. @YoContextKev

You mistake the absence of commitments to a commitment not to act.

In a pre-election period when there is not even a #manifesto why give hostages to fortune? At this statige it is all about maximising victory.

If you think there is no difference between a 21st Century #LabourGovt and a 21st Century #ToryGovt you have not been paying attention

  7. @lynnejones

Well right now priority is what #Blair undoubtedly did better than any other Labour leader in history - gain power

#Labour already commited to green investment

I can't beleive that I, a non-Labour member (admission: I was one briefly sometime in the 90s) is trying to convince a former long-serving #LabourMP that a #LabourGovt is worth fighting for....! The open hostility of some on the Left just because not all their hot button items are on the agenda

  8. @jamie

Open goal for #Labour - just state that permission to mine #coal at this new mine will be rescinded as the first act of an incoming #labourGovt

I doubt a tonne of coal will get mined there if that were done

    What is more

    - there is more than enough supply of coking coal on the world market
    - the UK is more expensive than alternatives
    - 85% would get exported, adding to the amount of coal burnt globally by every tonne extracted
