LA CHIMERA, a new Italian #film, was far 60s-artier and more elliptical than I expected or wanted. In terms of 21st Century-era unlikable protagonists, it nails that fine. The critics scores on Metacritic are far too generous imho. While interesting in spots, overall? Meh.

#LaChimera ha cose notevoli come un'ambientazione affascinante, a metà tra un sogno felliniano e uno spaccato neo-realista, un cast di personaggi pittoreschi ancorati a un protagonista affascinante e indecifrabile.
Però, a questo film che stuzzica la mente e appaga "gli occhi degli uomini", manca forse uno slancio emotivo, e come Arthur resta fino alla fine chiuso nel suo ermetismo quando, forse, avrebbe dovuto lasciarsi andare.
Da vedere e ammirare, sì, ma avrei voluto amarlo.
