Para adentrarse en los terrenos de la filosofía hermética sin perderse en textos excesivamente oscuros, este volumen publicado originalmente en el año 1908 ofrece un recorrido muy claro a través de las enseñanzas atribuidas a Hermes Trismegisto, el mítico sabio del antiguo Egipto. Escrito bajo el seudónimo de Tres Iniciados, el texto se encarga de estructurar y explicar los siete principios universales que rigen la realidad según esta corriente de pensamiento, abordando conceptos complejos como la ley de mentalismo, la correspondencia, la vibración y la polaridad en un lenguaje sumamente accesible y ameno.
A lo largo de sus páginas, los autores explican cómo todo el universo visible e invisible se mueve bajo leyes inmutables, donde los opuestos son en realidad dos caras de la misma moneda y donde el ritmo de la naturaleza busca siempre un equilibrio constante. El Hermetismo: Filosofía de la transformación mental y su presencia en la actualidad
El desarrollo del pensamiento alejandrino, las leyes universales del Kybalión y la permanencia de su metodología en el análisis contemporáneo.
El hermetismo es una corriente filosófica y espiritual tradicional que se originó en la ciudad de Alejandría, en el norte de Egipto, durante los primeros siglos de nuestra era. Esta tradición se fundamenta en un conjunto de textos antiguos conocidos como el Corpus Hermeticum, atribuidos históricamente a la figura mítica de Hermes Trismegisto, un personaje que los sabios de la época crearon fusionando las cualidades de Thot, el dios egipcio de la sabiduría, con Hermes, el mensajero de los dioses en la mitología griega. Lejos de ser una religión formal con dogmas y templos, el hermetismo se estructuró como una escuela de pensamiento orientada al estudio de las leyes que gobiernan el universo, la naturaleza y la mente humana, influyendo profundamente en el desarrollo de la ciencia primitiva, la medicina y la alquimia durante el Renacimiento europeo.
Las bases del hermetismo se centran en la comprensión de siete principios universales que explican el funcionamiento de la realidad, los cuales fueron recopilados de forma anónima en el año 1908 en el libro El Kybalión. El primero de estos pilares es el principio del mentalismo, el cual sostiene que todo lo que existe en el universo comparte una naturaleza mental y que la realidad visible es el resultado de una gran conciencia. A este se suman leyes como la de correspondencia, expresada en la frase que indica que como es arriba es abajo; la vibración, que señala que nada está inmóvil en el mundo físico; la polaridad, que explica que todo tiene dos polos opuestos; el ritmo, que describe el movimiento de ida y vuelta de las cosas; la causa y efecto, que descarta la existencia del azar; y la generación, que establece la presencia de las energías masculina y femenina en toda creación.
En la actualidad, el hermetismo mantiene una vigencia clara en el mundo civil, despojado de sus antiguos secretos rituales y adaptado a las dinámicas del análisis contemporáneo. Su enfoque principal no se dirige hacia la magia exterior, sino hacia la alquimia mental, un método práctico que busca la transformación del individuo mediante el autocontrol, la meditación y el uso de la lógica para modificar los estados de ánimo propios. Las comunidades dedicadas al estudio hermético en el siglo XXI operan de forma abierta a través de internet, utilizando estos principios como herramientas psicológicas para el desarrollo de la resiliencia y el pensamiento crítico.
