#LinuxMint kommt ja schon mit einer Auswahl an Programmen, mit denen man im Prinzip direkt anfangen kann zu arbeiten. Na ja, ein bisschen Einrichtung gehört wie immer schon dazu, will man die Programme nach seinen Vorlieben einrichten. Wer mehr will, muss manchmal aber auch suchen. Daher habe ich einmal eine Liste der Programme zusammengestellt, die ich auf meinem #iMac unter LinuxMint 22.3 installiert habe. Vielleicht hilft es ja jemandem.
Kann aber keine Garantie geben, dass die Programme alle funktionieren. Is there a quick way to highlight just one line of text?
On Gnome Text Editor/Gedit/Pluma/Xed you can triple click, and that highlights the line. On Kate/Kwrite, though, triple clicking also highlights the newline character at the end of the line: I don't want to do that.
I tried looking in the "configure shortcuts" settings menu and didn't see a way to create a shortcut for highlighting one line, either with the mouse or keyboard.
Can it be done?

#KDE has long had a technology called #KParts. Basically you can set up something (including a full app) as a #KPart component and use it elsewhere as part of another (tools bars and menus will merge).
My understanding is that #Kate & #KWrite are a good example. Both now use the same editor component, but Kate adds a LOT of extra functionality to it. The #KDEPIM suite uses the same trick with it's components - they can run separately or as one combined app (#Kontact).
I'm not fully across the technology, so if any experts wish to correct me, feel free. 🤠

#kwrite , please don't switch my font next time I upgrade! I chose it because I like it. *grumble*
Other than that, keep on going :)
The removed menu bar was a bit of a surprise, but I rarely used it anyway, so meh. -
#Vivaldi #Browser is great. I just wish notes and tiling would work. Tiling multiple notes breaks them. Along with the bug in visual mode that adds backslashes to #Markdown text, the lack of ability to change fonts and their size, and the lack of colour highlighting, adding Markdown checkboxes is what I miss most, maybe mass import/export of folders with lots of Markdown files would also be great. Well, unfortunately I will have to go back to #Kwrite/#Kate Markdown editing to get my Markdown files in order. I wish #VivaldiBrowser notes would get some #developer love in the near future.

Searching through a cca. 430 MiB JSON file with syntax highlighting is (much) faster in #Kwrite than in Bat (the modern CLI cat with syntax highlighting)

Nope. It's stray #rustanalyzer processes eating 15GiB. Or maybe it's #kwrite's fault?

I just wanted to run #spellcheck on my #thesis that I wrote in #TeXLaTeX using #Kate and #KWrite. Since the text is in #German, I thought "Surely, it's going to recognize all the LaTeX tags as misspelled words."
Nope. It only spellchecks the actual text. Like it should be. The attention to detail in @kde and general #OpenSource software surprises me over and over again.
