White Rose
The White Rose (Weiße Rose) was a non-violent resistance group in Nazi Germany led by 5 students + a professor at the University of Munich. The group would distribute leaflets + post graffiti calling for opposition to the Nazi regime. Their campaign ended with the arrest of several members by the Gestapo in 1943.
Siblings Hans (24) + Sophie (21) Scholl, as well as Christoph Probst (22) were executed by guillotine four days after their arrest in 1943. While Sophie + Christoph were silent as they died, Hans yelled "es lebe die Freiheit!" (Long Live Freedom!) as the blade fell.
Members Willi Graf (25), Alexander Schmorell (25) + professor Kurt Huber (49) were captured + beheaded months later.

Im Gedenken an die Widerstandsgruppe „Weiße Rose“
Heute jährt sich die Hinrichtung von Sophie Scholl, Hans Scholl und Christoph Probst zum 81. Mal. Nach der Verurteilung durch den Volksgerichtshof unter Roland Freisler wurden sie noch am gleichen Tag hingerichtet.
Ihren Mut und Einsatz für die Freiheit werden wir niemals vergessen.
