Went to the #IrisVanHerpen exhibit at the #kunsthal museum in Rotterdam today. Unfortunately I was not the only one with that great idea (so crowded 😅)
It was great to see these pieces up close and seeing the construction, but museum lighting and static mannequins really don’t do them justice. These clothes were made for movement and so in some ways the photos and videos I’ve seen were better.

Powerful exhibit of work by #AiWeiwei at #Kunsthal #Rotterdam. The art itself fascinating to see, but the stories behind it make for an exhibit that will stay with me for a long, long time. Remakes of the cell he was held in during his detention in China. A fun-looking snake along the ceiling made from backpacks from children who died in the Sizuan earthquake.
Photo is part of "Illumination", a lego rendition of the last selfie he was able to make upon his arrest.
Powerful art.
