Lloyd Belladonna, ein optimistischer Junge aus dem legendären Dorf Kunlun, gilt dort als Schwächling. Sein Traum: Soldat in der Hauptstadt Azami werden. Kunlun liegt jedoch direkt neben dem gefährlichsten Dungeon der Welt, und seine Bewohner sind Nachfahren von Helden mit übermenschlichen Kräften. Was Lloyd als "schwach" empfindet, ist für den Rest der Welt unfassbar stark. In Azami angekommen, zieht er bei der Hexe Marie ein und verblüfft alle mit seinen Fähigkeiten, während er selbst völlig ahnungslos bleibt. Seine Reise führt zu aberwitzigen Situationen, da er Monster wie Insekten zerquetscht und uralte Magie wie Hausarbeiten erledigt, stets im Glauben, er sei nicht gut genug für die Herausforderungen der normalen Welt.
