There are plans to refurbish older #ElectricTrainService (#ETS) and #Komuter #trains, which will help increase capacity and frequency

There were some 18 old sets of ETS and Komuter trains and some are needing major overhauls before they could be put back into service

KTM Berhad (#KTMB) had responded to the media regarding certain issue surrounding usage of cards at the #faregate.

KTM Komuter now supports #MyDebit card (#debitcard issued by local banks in #Malaysia), requires an RM30 pre-authorization hold.

#KTM does not yet support #debitcards issued outside Malaysia as well as all #creditcard, but they're working on enabling said support, which will take some time as those use different #backend system.

Procurement of new Electric Train Service (#ETS) and commuter #train is underway.

The #Gemas - #JohorBahru ETS line would receive 10 new ETS sets, and six #commutertrain would be deployed in the #KTMKomuterUtara sector.

The Ministry of Transport Malaysia (#MOT) would also consider resuming the now-suspended #SkyparkLink after the #Subang #Airport Regeneration Plan (#SARP) is completed within the next three years.

KTM Berhad is informing users of KTM Komuter that they can buy tickets easier without cash for both adults and children by using the ticket kiosk.

Select travel destination and scan a debit card, credit card, Touch n' Go eWallet or Boost to pay.

The kiosk will print the ticket with QR code that you can use at the faregate.

This has already been used for KTM Komuter Utara in northern region, but it is new in Klang Valley.

KTM Komuter Utara might be accepting Touch ‘n Go (#TnG) Card soon.

The KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (#KITS) Automated Control Gates (#ACG) at KTM Komuter Utara train stations have been upgraded with a new card reader, similar to the ones recently installed for KTM Komuter in Klang Valley.

While no confirmation has been posted by KTM Berhad yet, Touch ‘n Go logos can already be seen in front of the ACG.

a) Train no. 2981 (Padang Besar - Butterworth) : Estimated delay of 68 minutes

b) Train no. 2982 (Butterworth - Padang Besar) : Estimated delay of 55 minutes

Around 8pm on 23 September 2023, KTM Berhad (#KTMB) had informed users that there are disruption of services for #KTM Komuter Utara in between Sungai Petani - Tasek Gelugor.

KTMB apologized for the service disruption that occurred due to tripping of overhead equipment and caused electricity supply disruptions.

The reaction of the disruption has caused delay to the trains on Butterworth - Padang Besar line.

In conjunction with the operation of the new KTMB Utara route expansion to Ipoh, the public can enjoy free one-way KTM Komuter Utara train rides on 16 and 17 September.

The free ride apply for journey from three stations, namely Ipoh, Sungai Siput and Kuala Kangsar, to the other stations along the way between Ipoh and Butterworth.

KTM Berhad has officially announced that KTM Komuter Utara will go up to Ipoh from 16 September 2023 onwards.

Unfortunately, Tasek station is not included, as seen by the route map and timetable that they had posted where it only includes the three stations of Kuala Kangsar, Sungai Siput, and Ipoh.

Your journey with KTM Komuter Utara to #Ipoh will become a reality with the extension of its service to three (3) stations soon.

Stations mentioned for the extension:
- Kuala Kangsar
- Sungai Siput
- Ipoh

At the moment, there's no information on whether Tasek Station (which is in between Sungai Siput and Ipoh) will be included or not.

With the implementation of this system, you buy the #ticket for your journey using the mobile app KTMB Mobile, and scan the #QRcode displayed in the app at the #faregate.

In order to create a comfortable and safe journey for all passengers, Malayan Railways Limited (#KTMB) would like to request the cooperation of passengers to follow these prohibitions when boarding KTMB trains.

This includes #KTMKomuter, #KTMKomuterUtara, and #ETS train services, as well as #KTMIntercity train services such as #DMU, #ERT, #ES, and #ST.

The items prohibited include pet, cigarette / e-cigarette, hazardous item, durian and mangosteen.
