If you thought string quartets only play stuffy and irrelevant music, check out the NPR's latest Tiny Desk Concert, featuring the renown Kronos Quartet. Their version of 'Ohio' by Crosby, Still, Nash, and Young was a revelation and really shone new light on this song. You could sense the outrage of the original in their playing. Marvellous. And their playing of 'Strange Fruit' sung so brilliantly by Billie Holiday, was very affecting and very moving. I thought those two pieces were quite stunning in particular. Well worth a listen.

Nina Simone's version of "For All We Know", arranged by Jacob Garchik & performed by the Kronos Quartet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvGk1XRGIuU
I'd never heard of this song before, but this arrangement was pretty enough that I went and found the original afterwards. See the video's description for a discussion of the piece.
