I like to write about budo. This about the stuff that's more fundamental than the basics.

I should find an Alexander Technique teacher and find out how they teach this stuff.#budo

Is there anyone who does #iaido or #koryu #kenjutsu who would recognise the chiburi from this kata (#AikiToho by #aikido sensei #Nishio)?
I’m not sure how well the hive mind on Mastodon will work but I’ve been looking for the answer for some time. Some charts list it as a chiburi from #SuioRyu while others don’t. High ranking people from Suio Ryu didn’t recognise it. A practitioner of Aiki Toho stated error in table. But I haven’t been able to link to any other school.

Spent about half an hour showing oldest (14) principles of #Jojutsu using two #StarWars shorter lightsabers joined, against a single long blade saver.
She was having a blast... and learning about balance, stance, grip, center, distancing, timing... all without incurring the sense of a rigid lecture/lesson format.
Win-win

@tuban_muzuru @paninid true, unfortunately.
Furthermore, we can mock and jeer at Nietzsche for simplistic views, all we want, but it's true. Monsters won't fall to sweet, innocent people.
To be able to kill a monster you must partake of the willingness to visit violence (not necessarily in physical sense, please notice that) that they have towards others.
There is a form of sacrifice one must make, sometimes you need to put away the sweetest, best part of yourself in order to bring an end to true evil.
The sword that kills is also the sword that allows life, but make no mistake, you are still taking a life. Wish more people heeded the simple, stark lessons of old #Koryu

Sensei comes back with a *nice* silken bag.
Out pops a beeeeeaaaauuutiful, full-sized #tachi. Heirloom from his family, late 1600s. Allegedly bathed in bodily fluids, more than once, during the late 1860s.
No one wanted to approach closer than ten feet.
He didn't even draw.
I smiled.

A book - I am being generous - came out, about Tenshin Sho[o]den Katori Shint[o]o Ryu (天真正伝香取神道流) in which the wonderboy translating subtitles as "Tenshinsho Den Katorishinto ryu" ::twitch:: .
Well, fuckstick, originally the Katori Divine Decree School of [specific combat art contained into the canon of a #Koryu, such as TSKSR] (loosely translated) just became Sarah Palin level of word salad, on their hands.
Eurgh.
