  1. I was going to say something about the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, but fuggedaboutit. Languages are just beautiful and they don't have to come down to logic or realism or any form of prescriptivism (or its opposite).

Case in point, I love how in Japanese, the verb "to solve" is also the verb "to melt." Isn't that brilliant?

  2. RE: mastoart.social/@StevenLawsonP

  3. Now that the Spring leaves are on the trees I can push on with my second major project, exploring the Japanese philosophy of Komorebi.
This is a word used to describe the look, atmosphere and feeling created when sunlight filters through leaves.
In English 'dappled' is probably the closest word to explain the appearance of such light, but Komorebi goes much further than a single, descriptive word.

  4. Komorebi

A brief preview of my new major project, to capture fleeting moments where sunlight passes through the leaves of forest trees and plants to create exquisite moments of beauty with light and shadows.

  5. I had a lovely walk today, stopping every few minutes and shooting a little chilled out video of trees and a brook in the windy conditions.

Very different to my normal stomping around with the SLR covering miles techniques.

I'm trying something different because my body does not want me doing miles these days and it hasn't recovered at all from the aches and pains I picked up in early Dec

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnKdrjqtj_c

  10. $corporate recently moved us from #Linux to #Windows (#WSL). While I'm disappointed, I quickly set up #komorebi with a WSL-first approach, which actually works really well. However, I soon realized there was no keystore available.
`pass` is my go-to, but not everyone wants to deal with GPG setup, so I looked into alternatives for my team. Most people recommend gnome-keyring, but I’m not a fan of bloated solutions. The thing is, I already have a keystore just outside WSL: the Windows Credential Manager.

So here we are, let's welcome `keyring_wincred` and `winaskpass`! Both store secrets in wincred using a C# script via powershell from WSL 😱

  13. I don’t see much activity on #komorebi but it seems like a pretty good shim to enable tiling in windows. Which fancy zones and friends can sort of manually accomplish.

What windows doesn’t natively do is dynamically manage new windows and tile them. Fancy zones can do some stuff for presets somewhat similar to an #i3 default layout.

I guess my only beef is paying a subscription versus just paying a flat price. 2 years for example would be over 200 dollars, which seems steep.
