Every Sunday I look back at the preceding week in Kpop and pick out a music video or performance that I have particularly liked. This week I have chosen Koi Kat – Wake Up Call.
This performance video popped up in my YouTube recommendations last week, a few days after the release of the MV proper. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though the dance music is nothing ground breaking. I also wondered if the “city hall” seen in the background is a real building or some kind of generated image.
Koi Kat has been on the idol scene for a few years with various stage names. It’s not just her tattoos and lip ring, -- overall she has a grittiness not commonly found in Kpop. Gritty or not, she appears to have attracted hardly any attention with this release. What do you think of “Wake Up Call”?
