Es zeichnet sich allerdings eine Alternative ab: #Simkl unterstützt bereits #Kodi und bei #SeriesGuide ist diesbezüglich ein Feature-Request hängig. Mal schauen.

Im Moment läuft mein Setup noch, solange ich weder bei Kodi noch SeriesGuide die Autorisierung anfasse. Fragt sich nur, wie lange noch.

Für kostenlose Konten gilt seit Juli 2026 maximal eine Community-App-Verbindung. Das betrifft gerade typische Kombinationen aus Mediencenter und mobiler Tracking-App.

Frustratingly a recent #debian update broke #kodi's ability to play #1080p videos. I don't get much more from kodi's log than "error <general>: eglSwapBuffers failed (EGL_BAD_ALLOC)". I've tried messing with various setting to no avail and nothing obvious appears in #dmesg output. The 720p videos still play fine and I know some of the failing videos worked last week before the update.

Any hints welcome ;-)

I wanted to try #raspberrypi with #kodi , but family wise, it is unusable, particularly for elders and disabled members 😔

Ich habe gerade mal meine #Festplatten Kapazitäten (#M2, #SSD, #HD, 2,5", 3,5", intern, extern) hier zusammengezählt. Auf #Proxmox (#Homeserver mit #Homeassistant und #TrueNAS), #Backup #Server, #Libreelec #Mediacenter mit #Kodi und #TVHeadend, #VuPlus, 3 #Notebooks und offline Backup-Festplatten im Schrank: ~ 92 TB

Dazu kommen dann noch 2 TB im Netz (#rootServer, #Webspace), 1,5 TB auf #Smartphones und #Tablets und ~ 1,5 TB #USBSticks und #MicroSD Karten und wahrscheinlich vergessenes 🤔🫣🤪

Ich muss da immer wieder an den Kauf meines ersten #PC denken: Damals waren 105 MB Festplatte für #DOS und #Windows Standard. Ich habe eine gigantische 170 MB (ja, Megabyte, das ist KEIN Tippfehler) Platte genommen und damals dachten wirklich noch alle, dass man die nie voll bekommt 🤣🤣🤣

Heute belegt ein nacktes, frisch installiertes #Windows 11 schon knapp das 150-fache 🤦

@nfilipes @8none1 really thanks for the interesting episode, but i would like to share my thought about the Kodi / Jellyfin topic. You are right Kodi is a configuration nightmare but comparing it to Jellyfin isnt the correct approach.
While Kodi is a very customizable local Mediaplayer you are comparing it to Jellyfin which is a complete client server infrastructure.
Someone who already has problems with Kodi's overwhelming settings will not manage to setup a Jellyfin server either.
And another thing about Jellyfin: althought it is a great project we should not forget that they build up onto min. 5 years Emby development before they forked from that (which then went closed source). For quite some time there was no real evolution in terms of the server and the clients also tend to be quite bad. Thats the reason i stick with Emby till the day.

I created #CastLab after coming back from holidays. I just wanted to cast my media to my TV and could not find a simple open source app for that, so I built one.

It has grown since: it supports #Kodi and the open source #FCast protocol. I was even surprised to see it also used to cast music to network speakers.

I will keep working on your feedback. Only on #FDroid, but it could be brought to #iOS if people are interested (through #AltStorePAL).

#LibreElec und #Kodi verwende ich ja nun wirklich lange und nach all dieser Zeit sitze ich das erste Mal vor einem Endgerät, einem älteren All-in-One-PC von Lenovo, auf dem sich das System zwar installieren aber nicht starten lässt. Installation macht keine Probleme, beim Bootvorgang heißt es "da ist kein OS".

Key question: can anyone recommend a #Jellyfin client which runs a native video player (not an embedded web browser) on a #RaspberryPi?

Background:

I'm trying to replace my #Kodi instance on a RPI4 connected to the TV. The client-server model of Jellyfin seems very advantageous. BUT: the default client is just a webpage. For any media which uses a container or a codec not supported by the browser, the server will transcode live the contents into another format. Thread continues.

Oh, cool, sharing a peertube video from the peertube app on my phone to kore will now successfully play the video on kodi! I swear this didn't work half a year ago...

It does now though, so finally I can conveniently watch peertube videos on the telly!
