The little sun we had in morning was a luxury.
30mm/hr rain for an hour and the rate seems to be increasing 🥳
How it started / how it's going.
After weeks on end of no rain, last 4 days have been "back on track" for the season. 18mm rain in the last hour and might continue for a bit.
Here comes the rain that had been threatening to pour any moment since morning.
(11 mm in about 20 min; still raining, but with reduced intensity)
It's afternoon-rain time of the year here.
Wake up to a blue sky and get shit done by noon under a blazing hot sun. By then the (remaining) forests decide it's too hot and tweak the climate control.
Enjoy a siesta or indoor work while it pours a good 10-50mm rain in an hour or two.
Then, waddle out into the wet landscape along with ducks for more outdoor stuff as the sun begins to peek between the vanishing clouds and horizon.
UV Index went from 9 to 2 in last 30min, it might rain in some time.
I stepped out at 2.30 in the morning to check why the dogs were going nuts, and saw the bright moon, clear night sky, and 30 minutes later it's drizzling. What?
This week alone I've swatted more mosquitoes than 7 years before combined. That I have a rough idea of how many mosquitoes I've encountered should explain how rare that used to be at 1850m elevation.
From no more than one a week during peak season to a handful daily. That's how much and how fast ecosystems are changing even in remote and protected places like Kodaikanal / Palani Hills.
Was gifted a Pebble Time 2 recently. Made a custom watchface for my weather station data and predictions for conditions and expected rain from remote APIs.
It's gonna be another cloudy and rainy day.
Love that I can get locally grown and processed coffee.
Fire beetle season!
Although it is a pleasant 15°C at 1800 meter elevation where I am, the rest of the country is experiencing higher temperatures at night than what some would call heat wave at day time (~30°C)
A very friendly pup has adopted a friend and follows him pretty much everywhere.
This was peak rain rate, 99 mm/hr! It is holding around 50-60 mm / hr. That's the third *heavy* rain in two weeks.
It's 6°C before sunrise. In 6 hours it'll be 24°C.
Summer in the hills is different.
(Hearing that temps are already crossing 37°C from friends in the plains)
Well, an hour of sun in the morning was welcome, all cats have been charged up

I cannot feel the temperature under my blanket with a dozen cats piled on top, but I guess it is getting colder.
Was a clear night, got a little frosty. And now the clouds want to play with the thermostat 😬
And we're back to 10 meters visibility today. The sun was good while it lasted.
In Kodaikanal town today to pick up more medicines and wet food for my cats. Reached here before sunset! Was misty for half the road, sunny for the rest. Way back will be fun :D
