Last Saturday, the #UNMappers Kenya Youth Climate Mapping Externship team went back.
Armed with #KoboToolbox and #ChatMap, the team fanned out across Sarang'ombe and Woodley to revisit those same points and see what five years had changed.What they found was remarkable. The numbers had reduced. A significant percentage of the original trash points had been reclaimed. The community had moved the needle — through local action, not outside intervention.

In 2020, community mappers led by Nicera Wanjiru of Shack Dwellers International Kenya conducted a study across Kibera mapping waste points — their locations, sizes, and conditions. Today I'm having a deeper look at a survey tool called #KoboToolbox,

@brianb dm or cm-accuracy is impossible with phone hardware, especially outside where no routers are :)
You need either an Egnos or RTK capable, external receiver for that. You can generate a quick form with #kobotoolbox and add a photo option there.
#QField projects for proper GIS workflows are possible, but need preparation in the office with #QGIS, at least a base and point layer.

#PCRAFI project https://risk.spc.int/ presented their #RiskAssessment survey in multiple #PacificIslands countries. I loved to learn that they use #Kobotoolbox and #KoboCollect - great #OpenSource #DataCollection tool!
