  2. Man's best friend - First eradicate the Neanderthals, then biodiversity

Humans and their dogs drove our evolutionary cousins Neanderthals to extinction
"Early dogs, bred from wolves, played a critical role in the modern human’s takeover of Europe 40,000 years ago when we vanquished the Neanderthal locals. The Neanderthals, who had lived there for more than 200,000 years. However, within a few thousand years of our arrival, they disappeared...Humans and hunting dogs were, and still are, a deadly combination." >>

  3. Protecting Australia's unique ecosystems or extractivism as usual ?

"With one of the highest rates of extinction in the world and more than 7.7 million hectares of threatened species habitat destroyed since 2000, Australia is considered by many to be in a biodiversity crisis...The agenda is entirely geared towards fast-tracking development."

  4. 138,000+ hectares of koala habitat bulldozed as Albanese fails on new nature laws

"New analysis shows that despite the Albanese government committing to no new extinctions, 138,617 hectares of koala habitat was bulldozed in just one year in Queensland. This forest was bulldozed under the current, weak federal nature laws, leaving the loopholes wide open for further clearing, putting the koala on a fast track to extinction."

  5. Magistrate fines earthmoving contractor $79k over koala deaths at Victorian bluegum plantation.

"A south west Victorian forest and earth moving business has been convicted and fined nearly $80,000 after hundreds of koalas were found in poor health or dead on a private property in 2020."

"The erection of a fence around the site prevented the koalas from escaping the heavy machinery works. He just did what he was contracted to do. He was not aware that he has any obligations … in relation to koalas or koala spotting."

  6. We just have to get out of logging

"Conservationists claim harvesting operations are mismanaged, logged too intensively and come at a cost to the taxpayer and the environment."

"Dailan Pugh from the North East Forest Alliance says the biggest problem is the loss of mature trees, which are the homes and future for wildlife...We need to give our wildlife a chance to recover, we need to value our forests for the water they yield and — most importantly — the carbon they take out of the atmosphere."

"The NSW government has committed to creating a Great Koala National Park, which will take in existing state forests that span from the Clarence Valley to south of Coffs Harbour. Concerns over dwindling koala numbers across NSW led the Natural Resources Commission to lead independent work on how koalas responded to harvesting in state forests".

  7. Half of species under threat in NSW are on course to become extinct in next 100 years

Stop business as usual , stop logging and land clearing now!

    The review "found n a t i v e f o r e s t l o g g i n g was damaging f o r e s t e c o s y s t e m s and the habitat of native species and was scathing of the state’s offset scheme."

"Laws meant to protect the environment in New South Wales are failing and unlikely to ever succeed unless substantially changed, according to a scathing review that warns half of the species under threat in the state are on course to become extinct within the next 100 years."

"The independent review of the Biodiversity Conservation Act, released on Thursday, makes 58 recommendations to overhaul nature protections in the state and commit the government to preserving the environment for future generations."

  8. The extraction roads they are building around Bellingen (for the last year) could be sourcing the road making materials from the NSW Hunter region which is also a koala habitat. The forests there and here are covered in dust and residents relying on water caught off their roofs are forced to drink polluted water.
