The vintage pushbutton knitting machine developed a set of sticky buttons shortly after it came home with me, which was annoying but not terribly surprising for a 55 year old mechanical object.

I tried to see if I could fix it without taking it apart, but that didn't work. It wasn't actually the buttons that were the problem, it was the sliding needle selector plates which are controlled by the buttons. They're supposed to slide, but they were sticking to each other.

So with great apprehension I took the machine out of its case without breaking a single plastic rivet (there's a trick to it!), removed the pushbutton set, took the needle selector plate assembly apart and cleaned each plate with simple green, then put it back together. Now the buttons are all nicely clicky again and I'm so very pleased with myself.

(I bet this is the same thing I'm going to have to do with the punchcard machine... which is "only" 47 years old. If only the 38-year-old electronic machine could be fixed so easily!)

I dag skifter jeg strikkemaskine.

Min foretrukne er elektronisk (Brother kh940), men jeg er ved at tage et online-kursus, hvor instruktøren underviser på en hulkortmaskine (Silver Reed 280) og jeg synes det er for svært lige nu, at omsætte det hun fortæller, til min elektroniske maskine.

Så er det helt utroligt heldigt, at jeg har en maskine helt mage til den der bruges i undervisningen. Jeg er en heldig kartoffel.

200 clean(ish) standard gauge knitting machine needles after being soaked in 91% isopropyl alcohol and a few drops of oil. I think the pattern of schmutz they made on the cloth is kind of neat.

I'm looking through one of the pattern books from the vintage knitting machine, and in my head it sounds like a very prim lady from a girls prep school is reading it in a perfect British Educational Filmreel accent.

I don't usually hear words in my head in specific accents as I'm reading them, but this? oh yeah.

Anyway I think maybe I'm gonna try a lace pattern? This one looks pretty.

Jeg har jo købt mig til det her online strikkemaskinekursus fra tkso (the knitting school online), og jeg tager det bare fra punkt et, og kører slavisk frem.

Noget er kendt, men der er også ting det er nye.

Det her var første komplette strikkeopgave.
Det er bare et tørklæde, men farveskiftteknikkerne var sjove.

Det har taget en formiddag at strikke lige over halvanden meter tørklæde, i tyndt bomuldsgarn, 200 masker bredt.

Det er pænt hurtigt.

Tak to vypadá, že #pletacistroj je v mnohem lepším stavu než jsem doufal. Čtečka děrných štítků nejeví známky opotřebení, dokonce to vypadá, že je u toho i nerozbalený originální olej a kompletní vybavení kromě děrných štítků. Takze jen namazat, trochu ošetřit jehly, a vyměnit takovou houbu co nadzvedává jehly (vypadá to jako taková metr dlouhá a cca 9mm široká houba na mytí nádobí v ceně cca 7 eur) a koupit děrné štítky. Všechno prodávají v Estonsku jako náhradní díly. Takze rázem mám ze stroje za 250 euro stroj co se tu po repasi prodává za cca 900. A to se oplatí. #Knittingmachine

Koukám že mechanika #Knittingmachine carriage je vyšší dívčí. Vzhledem k tomu že chci udělat nějakou údržbu, na stroj evidentně nikdo tak 20 let nesáhnul. Tak abych si skočil na vysokou technickou. To nebude obyčejná vlnka jako u #ponozkator cc @tritol128

Not only is the electronic knitting machine out of commission, but the 24-stitch punchcard machine is also mispatterning.

First sample off the 8-button knitting machine! I dropped a few stitches in the process of figuring out which needles do/don't select for tucking, oops. But she knits so nicely! The carriage hardly takes any effort to move.

Battery replacement didn't stop the machine from beeping, but it can't stop me from planning ahead - I tried something new and drafted a sweater pattern based on a fleece that fits me perfectly. I hope this works out!

Nu prøver jeg at overbevise mig selv om, at man kan samle på meget “værre” (ubrugelige?) ting, som f.eks. fodboldkort.

Jeg vil lige nævne, at den samlede pris for alt det her, plus en flyttekasse med udstyr og strikkemaskinegarn, kostede en plovmand. I ALT!

Lol. Fun #knittingmachine adventures with Aliexpress. Bought what I thought were longer weights, but they are just super light cast on combs. That don't work with my machine bc they're for a Standard and not a Mid Guage. Oops. XD

Seven years ago today I began making this blanket on my new-to-me knitting machine, a Brother KH-230, which I clamped to my coffee table because I had nowhere else to put it yet, and found myself headfirst down one of the most enjoyable hobby-related rabbitholes I've ever found.

Æh, nu har jeg så åbenbart nået det stadie, hvor jeg har strikkemaskiner til reservedele 😬😳

Knitmasteren er i rimelig sørgelig forfatning og der er ingen slæder eller udstyr til, overhovedet.

Passap’en er faktisk i fin stand, men der er ingen trådmaster, og de slæder der er med til, er så rustne, at selv jeg synes det ser håbløst ud.

De var heldigvis gratis.

Jeg er igang med at lave en grønlandsk inspireret sweater. Det er desværre ikke lykkedes mig at lave sol i rød og hvid. Jeg har lavet ryggen og er nu igang med forsiden. Denne gang har jeg ikke tabt en eneste maske. Jeg skal til at lave halsen. MEN, jeg er desværre ved at løbe tør for garn. Planen var at hækle en cirkel der var halv hvis halv rød og så sy den på.
