Donderdag 17 september 2026 is het weer zover, dan organiseren we onze volgende ongelezen meet-up: Het Decor. Ditmaal staan boekenkasten centraal die slechts dienen als achtergrond, bij een videovergadering, interview of fotomoment. En is een koffietafelboek niet in essentie een ongelezen boek; neergelegd of neergezet in het interieur om iets uit te stralen in plaats van gelezen te worden? Een intellectuele kamerplant.
We richten ons tijdens deze salon op boeken wiens functie het niet is om gelezen te worden, maar om cultureel kapitaal aan te ontlenen. Een goed gevulde boekenkast die afstraalt op de mens, of een imponerend boek in het interieur. Kortom: het boek als decor.
Deze bijeenkomst vindt plaats tegen de exuberante achtergrond van de bibliotheek van de Koninklijke Academie van Wetenschappen @KNAW. Socioloog Giselinde Kuipers @Giselinde houdt deze avond de derde Carlos Ruiz Zafón-lezing, en Nieuw Amsterdams Peil is en brengt de muzikale omlijsting.

Een #cybercrimineel beweert een #database te hebben gelekt van de #KoninklijkeNederlandseAkademievanWetenschappen (#KNAW), een organisatie die zich inzet voor de #bevordering van #wetenschap en #literatuur in #Nederland. De vermeende #database bevat 37.522 rijen aan #gegevens. Dit #incident roept vragen op over de #beveiliging van #gevoeligeinformatie binnen #wetenschappelijke #instellingen.

I released new versions of my tooling around STAM (Standoff Text Annotation Model), a data model for working with (radical) stand-off annotation on text, with a practical set of tooling (Rust library, Python library, CLI tools) for working with such data. New is a tool to convert XML like TEI to plain text and stand-off annotation, which effectively 'untangles' a raw text and its annotations. Also new is improved HTML visualisation. I'd like to announce the new major release of STAM: Stand-off Text Annotation Model. This is a standalone data model for annotation on text. It comes with various low-level tooling such as libraries for #rust, #python and various command-line tools.
