I'm going to take this time to give kudos to the ASL interpreter who is doing a better job at signing than the lady I saw earlier at an earlier presser for this reason alone:

When ICE was mentioned, she signed "police"; this fellow here did not, and fingerspelled

The situation is clearly already out of control with respect to ICE being told by every level of local governement to leave Senator Amy Klobuchar has joined the chorus as well.

Listen carefully and you'll see that Klobuchar, just like Mayor Frey and Governor Walz is keeping an eye on the tactical situation.

They ALL are aware that their local cops are already out numbered and out gunned by ICE.

They are talking about literal battle when they talk like this.

Amy Klobuchar calls on Supreme Court to hold Trump officials in contempt

Senator Klobuchar warns of US getting ‘closer to a constitutional crisis’
-- as Samuel Alito’s dissent signals deference to Trump

On Sunday Minnesota senator #Amy #Klobuchar warned that the US is “getting closer and closer to a constitutional crisis”, but the courts, growing Republican disquiet at Trump administration policies, and public protest were holding it off.

“I believe as long as these courts hold,
and the constituents hold,
and the congress starts standing up,
our democracy will hold,”

Klobuchar told CNN’s State of the Union, adding
💥“but Donald Trump is trying to pull us down into the sewer of a crisis.”

Klobuchar said the US supreme court should 👉hold Trump administration officials in contempt if they continue to ignore a court order to facilitate the return of Kilmar Ábrego García from El Salvador,
the Maryland resident the government admitted in court it had deported by mistake.

Klobuchar said the court could appoint a 👉special prosecutor, independent of Trump’s Department of Justice,
to uphold the rule of law and charge any officials who are responsible for Ábrego García’s deportation,
or have refused to facilitate his return.

The senator’s comments came hours after supreme court released justice #Samuel #Alito’s #dissenting #opinion on the court’s decision to block the Trump administration from deporting more Venezuelans held in north Texas’s Bluebonnet detention center .

In his dissent, Alito criticized the decision of the seven-member majority,
saying the court had acted “literally in the middle of the night” and without sufficient explanation.

The “unprecedented” relief was “hastily and prematurely granted”, Alito added.

Alito, whose dissent was joined by fellow conservative justice #Clarence #Thomas, said there was “dubious factual support” for granting the request in an emergency appeal from the American Civil Liberties Union
to block deportations of accused gang members that the administration contends are legal under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

The majority did not provide a detailed explanation for the order released early on Saturday,
only that the administration should not to remove Venezuelans held in the “until further order of this court”.

The court has said previously that deportations under the 1798 law can only proceed if those scheduled to be removed are offered a chance to argue their case in court and were given “a reasonable time” to contest their pending removals.

I'm going to pray that they've been sitting on that quote for weeks and that it's not the evidence of dangerous cluelessness by Klobuchar that it appears to be.

I think Americans want first for Congress to save Democracy, Amy. Because control of the public's attention is easily manipulated in social media, they may not realize it's in mortal danger, but it's Congress' job to know that fact.

If they, Democrats and Republicans alike, aren't describing it as a full-on assault on the Constitution, a coup, a sudden & complete dismantling of Democracy via a prior published & detailed plan, then they aren't solving the right problem and show no evidence of paying attention.

Even 4 years ago, on January 6, it wasn't "business as usual". We needed Congress on that day to continue a Constitutional government but NOT to hear budget debates and such mundane legislative things. We knew we were UNDER ATTACK.

This, now, today, is an ESCALATION OF THAT ATTACK, and she's talking like she wants to ignore it, treating this as an ordinary work day. Work together by IMPEACHING maybe, but nothing less. Do not underestimate the seriousness and urgency of what's going on. Do not get distracted.

If Congressfolk don't see this as an escalation, maybe because it's a "white collar" attack not (yet) involving guns, they can't respond properly. They must stop talking about this as something to legislate their way out of. We in the US are under a real time administrative assault. Stop taking weekends & holidays. This is not a schedulable event. They are preying on your willingness to pretend it can have a leisurely pace.

Congress has long been soft on white collar crime, treating it as a privilege of the elite, the donor class. Perhaps it's become invisible to them, even as it's far more sweeping and hurtful than much street crime. Maybe a white collar coup is then likewise invisible. We need them to wake up and SEE.

This time they're using ID cards to get into buildings they're taking over, but there's more to Constitutional government than right of entry. The Constitution spells out limits on power. They're violating limits so fast they can't all be checked fast enough. A Gish gallop assault on policy & power.

Sadly, I predicted this crisis on the ex-bird site Oct 13, 2016 (before 2016 vote). Talking Points Memo (TPM) had cited USA Today on Trump's propensity for legal challenges. I expected the same with Constitutional challenges. Just as happened. Our system barely handles a few challenges a year, not thousands.

White lost—badly... probably because he was hard to take seriously as a candidate.
White’s campaign centered less on issues affecting Minnesota voters and more on incendiary comments about the #Chinese Communist Party, #women, and #Jews.
After this defeat, one might assume an end to White’s political journey. Especially because, in many ways, his public image has somehow gotten worse. Earlier this week, the Daily Beast reported that White’s 2022 campaign spent lavishly, including thousands at strip clubs.
But, no quitter, White persisted. In an outsider campaign, he announced last year he would run for US #Senate in 2024. This week

White’s endorsement perhaps shows the degree to which a new Republican party is emerging. Or, it could simply be a quirk of a weird election year. But, either way, you should go read Eamon’s old piece outlining White’s rise (perhaps descent is the better term) to MAGA candidate.
There is one part that has always stuck with me from that piece. For it, Eamon talked with White’s #grandfather, Frank White, an elder statesman in the Minnesota sporting scene:
“I’m proud of my grandson, but do I agree with his politics? -- #No,” White told us at the time.

“He told me, ‘Hey grandpa, I’m going to be on Steve Bannon’s podcast.’
I said, ‘Do you know who Steve Bannon is, man?’” White continued:
“There’s no way I can support my grandson supporting the GOP, and in essence, Trump. This is a guy who wants to be a #dictator. Think about what that means. You’re a person of color. Do you think you fit in his plans?”
