Our first #garlic #harvest ever! Thanks to our wonderful friend (and resident Druid in our regular #DnD group) who gifted us some bulbs from her harvest last year along with some awesome tips for cultivating and care. All ready for curing now, but you can bet that at least one of these beauties is getting put on some homemade pizza tonight!

Plants are weird.
The butternut pumpkin seeds I planted in individual pots, in speciallised seed starting mix, and placed in the perfect position for optimal light and warmth, and watered (but not overwateted) diligently to ensure the absolute best opportunity for them to germinate: Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero germination.
The extra butternut pumpkin seeds that I had, that I figured I'd just experiment with, and unceremoniously chucked in shallow dry dirt-holes along the weed-filled fenceline of our garden, and then just left to their own devices: Fucking up on time and thriving.
Like, what the heck? I dunno why we bother with all this seedling molly-coddling sometimes, when those little buggers are just gonna do what they do without our input anyway.

Finally cleared out the old gazeebo in our backyard, that had become a dumping ground for the kids broken garden toys, and turned it into my potting shed. Got all this years tomato seeds in too.
Next on the agenda, adding shelves under all the windows of the gazeebo, and adding some kind of door to keep the heat in, so we can also use it to sprout seeds earlier in the season, instead of filling up all the window sills in our house.

If you've never tried it, and you've got some pots or a bit of empty soil, fill 'em up with veggies and herbs! You wont regret it!
(Actually, the only negative is that supermarket produce has been ruined for us now, 'cause super fresh, straight-from-the-garden veg kicks it's arse in flavour every damn time)

The #tomato plants that we grew from seeds saved from last years crop are moving from our indoor windowsills to their main #RaisedBeds today.
We put a couple of test plants out the other day and not only do they not look shocked about being planted out, they're looking like their gonna thrive.
Freakin' love tomato season now that we have our own #garden.

Our cat, and all the cats in the neighbourhood like using our raised beds as toilets.
I decided to try to make some rustic stick cages to place across the top of the beds to stop them from becoming kitty squattie potties.
So far they are working out great. They dont take too long to make, but do require some fairly straight sticks, which we have in abundance after doing some pruning of our ornamental trees and bushes in early spring. Plus, since I used some natural fiber twine - they're completely biodegradable!
(Shhhh, yes I know I need to weed and mulch. Just waiting for some carrots to come up so I know what NOT to rip out or cover up :P)

First time growing Rainbow Glass Popcorn from Real Seeds. Not the greatest weather for ripening up sunshine hungry crops this year in the UK, but I got a couple of cobs.
