Anyone have experience servicing #kitchenaid mixers? I found a Pro 600 on the street and it looks great. Motor spins freely and mixer end moves nicely but when I turn it on I get nothing. Seems like some minor connection issue with the motor. Nice detent click from the speed selector. Nothing looks burned or damaged. Ideas?

[Edit] So, we have an old #KitchenAid #StandMixer that hubby inherited from his grandmother. When we heard the gears grinding, a friend of ours looked up the diagram, told us what we *might* have to order, then ended up replacing the old grease with some new grease! Mixer is as good as new and might last another 30-40 years!

Simple Green. I did a 1:10 dilution, but it appeared this was so greasy perhaps that was not the right thing. Okay, updates slow because of everything beyond here, and slow as I go out there and finish. It is OLD GREASE CITY in there. Next was removing the base. You need a BIG screwdriver for this. This was easy this time, but when I initially pulled this apart it was 20 minutes plus of struggle... the screws had started to corrode themselves in place, and everything was cemented in place with old flour. I had to use a flat head instead of a Philips here to unscrew these. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair #kitchenaid

There’s so much stuff these days that is disposable and can’t be repaired so I just want to call out #KitchenAid mixers, particularly the Artisan series, for being absolute right to repair beasts. They’re worth the price in part because if anything goes wrong, you can get parts to fix it. I’m currently refurbishing a 1982 built K45SS for my mom as a Christmas gift and there’s nothing on this mixer I couldn’t fix with brand new parts. They’re also fully serviceable with basic tools. They do have cheaper models with less serviceable motors (their bowl lifts) but they are still largely just as repairable. #RightToRepair

Whoa - that's sleazy. Just looking at #KitchenAid products and suddenly saw some with crazy low prices.

Turns out search will sometimes bring up "kitchenaidCanada.com" instead of "kitchenaid.ca" and if you look closely at the products they're junky knockoffs for low prices, with all the counterfeit branding, just more poorly done.

Beware if you're browsing #kitchen stuff. As usual, too-good-to-be-true prices usually are.

I've never attempted to make sausage links before. I've always been fascinated with cheddarwurst and cheese dogs. I believe the meat grinder attachment for my mixer is equipped for the job. I'll have to source sausage casings and pork fat. Regional origins, recipe research, and technique tutorials at YouTube University are on tap for the holiday weekend.

All-purpose flour with 10% vital gluten powder added. 72% hydration. Salt level reduced -25%. Yeast level adjusted +10%.

I haven't forgotten my quest to cook a crab to perfection, or my desire to try soju. The par-fried frozen panzerotti is a project for next year. Since my KitchenAid is fully functioning, I have a collection of attachments that can be used again. I think I'll add making ravioli or tortelloni to my list of firsts. I'm already envisioning deep fried ravioli in my future.
