I'm quite impressed by the build quality of the #KitchenAid stand mixer. All metal construction. Metal housing, metal gears. Easily disassemblable and repairable, in the event your in-laws somehow manage to overload it and damage it.

This is what I found when I opened it up. Tons of old grease. The worm follower gear at the bottom is all stripped out. I suspect that part is deliberately made weaker than the rest of the gears, so it will act as a sort of mechanical fuse. Just destroy one easily-replaceable gear, instead of the entire gear-train.

El Secretario del Trabajo y Previsión Social, Marath Bolaños López, y Olivia Salomón, directora general de Lotería Nacional, presentaron el billete del Sorteo Superior No. 2882, conmemorativo de la efeméride del 1° de Mayo, Día Internacional del Trabajo, cuyo diseño rinde homenaje al avance de la Primavera Laboral y a la implementación gradual establecida para alcanzar una jornada laboral de 40 horas a la semana.

El secretario del Trabajo expresó que la develación del billete es parte de un momento “histórico”, ya que la jornada laboral de 40 horas es una conquista que retoma las aspiraciones de las luchas obreras, desde los “Mártires de Chicago” hasta las huelgas de Cananea y Río Blanco, donde quedó plasmada la exigencia de “tener una jornada de trabajo digna, que permitiera tener un equilibrio dentro de la vida personal, de la vida familiar, del descanso, del goce y también, por supuesto, del trabajo” y que “este 2026 fue el año en donde juntos impulsamos, de la mano de nuestra Presidenta, la doctora Claudia Sheinbaum, la semana de 40 horas”, marcando un punto de inflexión en la agenda laboral.

Bolaños enfatizó que la reducción de 48 a 40 horas es resultado de “un ejercicio inédito, un esfuerzo colectivo en el que participaron trabajadores, empleadores y el Gobierno de México”, y la ubicó como parte de una transformación más amplia que busca dignificar el trabajo. Esta aspiración fue “pospuesta durante décadas, por la decisión indolente de gobiernos neoliberales, que simplemente establecieron que nunca era el momento para defender el derecho de las y los trabajadores, hasta que hoy, finalmente, logramos materializar este cambio, en la ruta de la primavera laboral de los derechos de las y los trabajadores”. –sn–

Anyone have experience servicing #kitchenaid mixers? I found a Pro 600 on the street and it looks great. Motor spins freely and mixer end moves nicely but when I turn it on I get nothing. Seems like some minor connection issue with the motor. Nice detent click from the speed selector. Nothing looks burned or damaged. Ideas?
