I have written to the party and to #eddaveymp suggesting that they will be humiliated in the #GeneralElection unless they propose a new poll on the #EU . We need one party that will allow us to express our opinion on how #brexit is "progressing". I suggest you do the same.

Very good results at the by-elections, some caveats with the people who didn't turn up but still great.

I think Starmer is a wet rag but it seems Middle England would also take that in a heartbeat vs what we have.

Rochdale is more interesting, and terrifying, but haven't had my ear close to the ground on that (yet). The Labour candidate getting himself in such hot water threw everything in the air. But Galloway's on the ballot so 😬.

I think what's most notable about the by-election results last night is that Labour got about the same actual number of votes in #Wellingborough compared to 2019, and actually went down in #Kingswood. The biggest net change appears to have been 2019 Tory voters just staying at home instead. To me, it suggests a lack of real enthusiasm for Labour, just even less enthusiasm for the Tories. #byelection #election

The latter bodes well for prospects of a #portillo moment for #reesMogg - part of Kingswood moves into the seat he currently represents - we can but hope!

Hmmm.... the #LabourParty has overturned sizeable majorities in tow previously 'safe' #Tory seats in this week's two by-elections (in #Kingswood & in #Wellingborough).

But, while these may be indicative of a swing to Labour, they may also indicate a swing (on the right) towards Reform, which likely compounded a voting 'strike' (staying at home) by previous Tory #voters.

For leftists, the problem will be if #KeirStarmer takes this as vindication of his tack to the right & policy weakening!

I love the fact that the #Labour candidate for the #Kingswood by election here in Bristol has life experience. He has:

Lived in Ireland and England
Been Mayor of Lewisham
Experienced #homelessness
Has lived in several different #faith communities
And changed faith to match his #husband.

That should give an interestingly nuanced approach to local politics - he has my vote!
