Today is King's day in the Netherlands (the king's birthday) and it is a countrywide celebration with flea markets and festivals.
Since the lion is our national animal and we happened to have a couple of stone lions that came with the house, I decided to dress them up in the national colours. That's as far as my patriotism generally goes 😁

Today, the Dutch eat heaps of "tompouce" pastry (mille-feuille) 😋 #KingsDay
So it was the perfect day to go for this Imperial #ApfelStrudel Pastry #Stout 😄 by Emporium Brewing, Kaikoura, #NewZealand
Finally a pastry stout that isn't overly sweet. On the contrary... This one is packed with spices and even hints of bitterness. Def more savoury than sweet. Subtle apple flavour mixed with a big hit of cinnamon and star anise.
Really nice & tasty brew 👍
