Here's a batch of refs for King Fish characters that I put together for Art Fight. I tried to give them all mystical circus vibes, because that felt on-theme.

I commissioned EyeOnHead – a wonderfully talented artist – to do a big scene drawing of some of the King Fish crew!

I really love the lighting and all the personality they gave each character. I'm absolutely delighted with this image 🥰

Next I rolled Myna and Star Trek. I thought she'd make a good Andorian and figured it was a good opportunity to try out a more painterly style. I haven't done that much, and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!

For my second roll I got King Fish and another 3 (high fantasy). I thought KF would make for a good Gandalf, so we arrive at King Fish the White!

I'm getting close to the next big update for King Fish - I've done all the line drawings and now just have to color them in! In the meantime, here's a bit of a teaser: the title page for the next story arc!

I may tweak it some as I settle into the new color palette, but it gives a sense for some of the new themes - greens for yellows and pines for willows, etc.

Plus, the first glimpse of a new character!

I'm trying to put everything together to make the first 12 pages of King Fish into a #zine I needed something for the inside cover, and thought it'd be fun to write up the Legend of the King Fish.
