"In May, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott announced $56 million in federal grants to rural hospitals. “We will deliver state-of-the-art treatment for everyone who calls Texas home,” the governor said in a statement. Some 31 million people call Texas home, so the grants amount to about $1.80 apiece, or about $350,000 for each of the state’s nearly 160 rural hospitals."

Můj přirozený respekt ke stáří a příbuzným se pomalu rozmazává v čekárně plné lidí, když objekt mého respektu zvýšeným hlasem popisuje své gastrointestinální pochody a hygienické procedury a žádá si mou reakci a názor na sdělované a ignoruje moje úpěnlivě do ucha skrze zuby drcené prosby o to, aby si vzala naslouchátko s tím, že je pro ni údajně nepohodlné.

I'm using dd to clone a 1Tb disk. It seemed to be taking ages, so I checked the collective knowledge ... around eight hours is typical! Kill me now!

That was a brutal day. Accounting is a form of torture for my brain.
The quarterly BAS used to be tolerable, but since being pushed into subscribing to MYOB via their online app it's turned into a complete cluster fuck.
Once you make a mistake, you can no longer find it. And what I most need from my accounting software is to help identify when something is not right.

I know people probably vote more regularly in "America’s Got Talent" than in elections.
(I heard someone at the Farmers Market proudly declare to a friend that they did NOT vote, so don’t blame them for this shitshow. )

It's funny when a new project manager comes on board, and wants to tell us to use ‘Agile’, like it's a new concept. And then arguing about the specifics for estimating tasks. Completely missing the fact that what you estimate for a task is not realistic to actual dev time. And then imposing that no task should be longer than 8 'points’/hours. You end up spending more time 'planning/estimating' than actually working. #killMeNow

CW: Drupal - abandon all hope ye who enter here
More drupal fun... which really isn't, but I thought I'd throw this out to anyone trying to install mods on the new Drupal 11 release.
Most mods have info.yml files that will declare them incompatible on the Extend page with the current version of Drupal, because their maintainers haven't had a chance to change one simple line.
This:
core_version_requirement: ^8 || ^9 || ^10
To this:
core_version_requirement: ^8 || ^9 || ^10 || ^11
For us Fediverse kids, that includes the ActivityPub, NodeInfo(2), and Webfinger modules.
Side note if you've enjoyed this bit of Drupal hell, and you happen to know why Drupal 11 won't even let the Profile2 mod appear on the Extend page, I'd love to hear your solution (note: permissions all set right, in the directory, but system can't find).... not that I'm holding my breath... because after working all day with Drupal I need a goddamn smoke.

Someone here recently asked why we **still** use Word as the default writing software for *anything*. I have just spent at least 30 minutes trying to remove endnote separator lines from the - yeah - endnotes! And the refs list that has to go after them that picks up separator continuation lines. Bc the journal submission rules will not want tons of lines everywhere. Also seems to break figure captions indexing. Grrrr.

Today is shaping up to be crap. HTTP requests failing under the debugger, and the reams of stack traces hid the one line "Timeout was reached" message.
So I bump the timeout to 10 minutes if I'm running under the debugger. Still fails. I failed to set it on the request.
Set it on the request, still fails. I passed `timout` instead.(Sorry, Tim)
Fixed that, still fails. I passed `timeou` instead.
It's just after noon and already I need a drink.

damn, PHP is an insidiously invasive & overly mutated plant once some idiot has knee-jerk installed all the zillions of mutually incompatible versions of that sucker... which are apparently all required for some "cloudpanel" thingie idiots use instead of the commandline to administer Ubuntu VMs

In 2018, the Canadian government bought the Trans Mountain pipeline, which carries dibit from Alberta to a port in BC, when the company expanding it seemed ready to step away. Still not complete, how has the projected cost of completing the project changed? #BC #Transmountain #Alberta #ClimateCrisis #KillMeNow

- nechávám o sebe pečovat svou ženu a bez reptání polykám a piju, vše, co mi předloží
- chystám výpravu z ložnice do kuchyně pro ibáč
- došly podcasty, začínám číst Sudetenland od Kyši.

I used to have a page in my notebook with a list of “normal things to talk about” until my older brother (who is the worst) said that having a list like that was not normal. So I got rid of it. But that was years ago when I thought I could maybe come off as normal. I’ve given up on that. But I still wish I had that list — I have to go to a “holiday party” at work today and I’m doing my best not to make an excuse and literally run away. #killmenow #no #why #how #please

Having spent part of the night on the bathroom floor is not conducive to me trying to wrangle the chaos. They're all concerned about this issue ruining Christmas. I'm concerned about it ruining today. And having to tell them the same thing 50 times is not helping my mood. #burnout #monday #KillMeNow
