Noooooo! Without realizing it, I just leasurely cruised right through not only the season finale, but the very last episode of #DarkMatter! This is #Firefly all over again.
Bottom line though, really enjoyed this #Syfy pearl. Could have done without the House Ishida line, but there are so many alternate directions to explore. Maybe too many, and maybe that was the problem. #Killjoys had a more solid plot line, without too much branching, which is perhaps why it held on for five seasons.
Anyhoo, now that you know my yums, what will you suggest for me? Maybe I should finally finish the last season of #TheExpanse, although I think I'm jonesing for something a little lighter right now.

I'm watching #DarkMatter - or as my wife calls it - "that series with the annoying sounds". I'm somewhere in the middle of season 3 and except for the whole plot line about Ishida, it's pretty good. Kinda reminds me a bit of #Killjoys.

A 5-minute précis of the truly excellent 5-season #SciFi series #Killjoys that I don't think I'd say failed at all. It lacked promotion and SF is a hard category to get wide appeal on TV. But such good world-building, so many fabulous characters that often surprised you by veering off from the stereotypes. It was a load of fun.

I absolutely loved Pree's look in Killjoys, it strikes a balance between feminine and masculine in such a seamless way. I can't recommend enough for people to watch Killjoys, it's such a great show and unlike most scifi shows, IT IS COMPLETE with an amazing conclusion to boot.

I had a hard time getting to sleep last night.
Decided some #scifi was needed.
Watched the first few episodes of #TheExpanse again.
Compared to some of the junk #Disney is churning out, it’s a masterpiece.
I thought it was very good back when I first watched it, but it’s really held up well & is far superior compared to most of the current stuff.
I miss #KillJoys too. 🛸

For as long as I can remember, probably at least since I turned 23, there’s always been this march of people younger and older who have framed themselves as the deciders of what is or isn’t cool for you to do or participate in depending on your age. Some things I can understand, you know, like, okay, you probably shouldn’t be chilling outside the high school at 42. Why are you doing that? Put the cigarette out, it’s 2024, and go to the mall or something (that is, if you’re fortunate enough to still have malls where you live).
But I’m not really talking about predatory behavior. That’s pretty much bad at any age. You can be 16 and a predator. You can be 53 and a predator.
What I’m talking about, though, is normal stuff. Watching anime, playing videogames, or saying, “Bruh.”
You’re 25, you’re too old to game, why don’t you own a house? You’re 32, you’re still gaming? Where’s the wife and kids? You’re 45, and you’re clappin’ people in Call of Duty? Shouldn’t you be thinking about stock options?
The examples could go on and on forever, I feel.
It is for sure almost one hundred percent of the time a projection of what this type of person thinks they’ll be doing around that point in their own lives. Or, at least, what they’re afraid their life will be like: Boring, drab, minimal. Lacking in joy. Not saying that getting married and having kids is boring and mind-numbing, but it for sure will completely reconstruct you as a person to the point you may not recognize yourself in the mirror.
Me, I have enough trouble recognizing who I am. Adding kids to the mix would be like … You know what, I don’t think I want to consider that right now.
But what I want to get at here is, basically, these things that some or a lot of people have decided are only for certain ages, or age groups: Gaming, cartoons, having fun, it’s almost always in relation to things that gen-x and millennials grew up with. Things that our generations were the first to have.
Baby boomers didn’t have Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, and Evangelion, and Ghost in the Shell. Therefore, there really is no metric, or no basis to conclude that at some point in time, someone might be too old to enjoy these things. We’re actually gauging that, right now! In the present! And a lot of people have decided, you know what? I’m gonna watch Demon Slayer at the age of 54, and you can’t fuckin’ stop me!
I’m going to play Skyrim and talk about it on a Youtube channel, as a grandmother, and that’s just fine!

He was just a dude who logged the heck on, and did some dungeoneering. He, unfortunately, succumbed to cancer on October 12th, 2022.
The fact of the matter is, if even the generation before me, and even gen-x can sit down and just go buck wild streaming gaming content on Youtube and Twitch, there’s no such thing as “too old” to have fun with things that you have enjoyed all your life, and probably still do.
Recently, on Threads, I saw a woman ask something along the lines of, “I’ve just turned 31 years old, am I too old to stream on Twitch?” (I tried searching for this thread, but there are actually many, many people on Threads posting about how they feel like they’re too old to do this or that.)
No!
Whoever is out there convinced that you’ve got to hang up the hat once you’re really considered an adult, don’t! Don’t let the expectations of imaginary, or actual, just boring people, dictate what you do in your life, for fun, or even money!
We grow up, we get jobs, we pay bills, and then we die. I’m sure most people have asked themselves, “Is this it?”
Anything that can take away from that cycle of madness, even if it’s for a couple of hours, or fifteen minutes, is worth it. No matter how old you are. So whether it’s a voice in your head that’s been drilled into you through years of criticism, or just 17-year-olds on Twitter (why the hell are you on Twitter?) trolling you: Keep doing what you wanna do.
You know.
As long as it’s not illegal, or harming someone.
Don’t do that.

Watching Killjoys season one because of course I ordered this missing blu-ray. Why only have S2-5? I'm starting to notice that they are not afraid to show really bright sunbeams and large lens flares. Sometimes most of a scene is almost completely washed out by bright sunlight. This really helps in creating the impression of being on another world. So many sci-fi shows are just dark.

Anyway, great to see Hannah John-Kamen, even though I don't get to see her introduce her character. And of course Stephanie Leonidas because she's the reason I have this disc.

Since I’ve never done one, here is my first #introduction.
I’m a fan of #SpaceOpera specifically: #Farscape, #Killjoys, #StarWars (the animated series is where my heart lives). Recently back into #StarTrek via #PicardSeason3 and #CaptainSeven. #DS9 is my favorite Trek and I have a fondness for #StarTrekVoyager. Going back rewatching #Voyager after #Picard only made the show richer.
Also a fan of #CriticalRole even though I’ve never played #TTRPG and now loving #Dimension20 #BellsHells fan.

You know. I did like #Firefly, but the fact that it's legions of fans never seem to have discovered and latched onto #Killjoys never fails to disappoint me. Technically at 50 episodes over 5 seasons it did way better, but you never see people bring it up constantly the same way. It deserved and still deserves a far bigger audience. It is excellent sf adventure action mystery weirdness that should appeal to fans of Firefly and Cowboy Beebop among others.

Just finished #killjoys and I stand by my previous comment: it's delicious and silly and I'd rather watch another 10 series like this than yet another gritty, needlessly grimdark retelling of the war of the roses or some such.
I can see that life is shit by myself, I don't need a TV show to teach me that, thank you very much.

Watched #TheWitcher season 2 over the last couple of nights. We've not played the games or know anything about the world mythos other than what we glean from the show, but we like it. Clearly. I think some of that comes from realising that it's to some extent a #fantasy version of #SciFi series #Killjoys which we loved.

And probably I'd pick Orphan Black because a) closure and b) Tatiana =)OTOH, if you're keen on something _wild_ I'm watching #killjoys these days and it's so... sweet, I don't know how else to describe it.
CW: it's also completely bonkers at time, and full of rude humor and more double-entendres you can shake a stick at and very generously diverse. All pluses for me but YMMV. -
I firmly believe that #killjoys is criminally undervalued.
It's INCREDIBLY silly at times, yes, and it obviously doesn't have the budget of bigger shows, but there are some big ideas, it is legitimately funny, and I think it does representation in a quirky, but honest and heartfelt way.
Kudos to Michelle Lovretta.
