My almost 4 year old wakes us up yelling: I need to go potty, but I have a banana in my hand.
My partner: put the banana on the table and go to the potty
My almost 4 year old: ok!Problem solving

My six year old #BeardGrabber is watching a video about the development of blue #LEDs by #ShujiNakamura. I wonder how much he understands; hopefully his younger brain will pick up and retain more than my tired one. 😅

While kiddo was doing his own things with #LEGO, along with the other kids there, and occasionally asking me for help taking bricks apart, or finding a certain brick, I made a miniature #tableFootball stadium for a game of two versus two. It uses four sets of two LEGO Technic sticks joined together, with the torso of a minifig attached to the joint. Each figure can be rotated and moved horizontally enough to get the 'ball' (the head of a minifig) across the entire court.
Afterwards #BeardGrabber suggested swapping the minifigs out for red and purple ghost figures.#FiXatoBuilds #FiXatoCreative #foosball #parenting #dadsOfMastodon #parentsOfMastodon #kidposting

#DearLazywebs, my oldest is almost 4 now and I'm looking for good media to develop empathy, feminism, anti-racism, ecology, critical thinking, etc. Looking for help building out this list.
Smallfoot (2018) - good story about questioning systems
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) - I appreciate the empathy part of the story line
Strange World (2022) - solarpunk, haven't watched it yet but looking forward to it (found it from a pop culture detective video https://youtu.be/rqQJHja9qxU )
My Neighbor Totoro (1988) - this is just a nice chill movie with a good story. Started watching this at 3.I'd really like to find something to counter copaganda because their friends are already in to paw patrol, and copaganda is so prevalent at this age. Any help would be very much appreciated.

#BeardGrabber is absolutely fascinated by a video of #NileRed turning vinyl gloves and vanilla sugar into hot sauce through chemistry.
I guess an almost 5 year old likes seeing all the chemical reactions; the colour changing, the bubbling, the crystalisation, and distillation. As well as the different tools. My highschool chemistry knowledge definitely isn't what it used to be though. 😅

#BeardGrabber wanted to win more #TicTacToe games, so I told him he could also play against himself, so he could win every game. xD

CW: re: Pun: What do you call writing tool shaped pastries?
This pun brought to you by #BeardGrabber, and a video of someone eating big coloured pencil shaped cakes, and him smilingly asking: "are those pen- / pancakes?"

"Nei, Æ vil ikke be quiet"
#BeardGrabber saying he doesn't want to be quiet, in a mix of standard Bokmål Norwegian, dialect Norwegian and English. xD(Before proceeding to drag an empty laundry basket around the rooms with my belt...)

Kiddo is playing with the vacuum cleaner. It's noisy, but he's learning about house work, is cleaning up his own mess, learning about suction, and most of all, enjoying it. So, I'm not complaining.

I hoped kiddo would sleep in this Saturday, but apparently 8 in the morning is enough sleeping in. xD

Multi-lingual parents: does your kid use a different language for communicating as it does for playing?
#BeardGrabber's communication seems to be primarily in Norwegian with a bit of English mixed in, while his playing seems to be the other way around.
