Radiohead - Kid A
The question was, obviously, what the hell do you do after releasing OK Computer? If you keep going down that path, it's a long slide to irrelevance, and given their restlessness, boredom.
So, *hard* pivot, more studios, picking up on the extant electronica trend, but making it theirs.
On release I was pretty shocked & disappointed, and it took a while to embrace, but embrace it I have. Mingus-like, indeed.

I am listening to #KidA by #Radiohead for the first time. I did some reading and I respect the band for trying something that was different for them.
Aphex Twin nailed it when he said "Compared to [regular bands], who think that they are really anarchic and stuff like that, [Radiohead] are probably amazing. If you’re only exposed to that kind of stuff, and then Radiohead come along, you will probably think that they are geniuses."
9/10 for effort is my score. Should I check out other LPs?

I much prefer Kid A, but ultimately, I would have preferred one album with the best of both.
You wanna partake in an exercise?
My friends and I did this a lot.Pick TWELVE songs combined from both Kid A and Amnesiac, and construct ONE album, taking into consideration the flow of the chronological order.
As to not sway you, I’ll withhold mine til after.

I think "In Rainbows" is gonna replace "Kid a" as my favorite Radiohead album :ablobcatheadphonesfast: No idea why I never listened to it much. I used to bump "Kid A" all day in highschool though :blobcatblep: I'll have to revisit "Kid A" to decide.

i was hopped up on adderall organzing my #pirated albums in iTunes when #Radiohead released this video and subsequently #InRainbows #ForFree, my favorite of their albums alongside #KidA
anyways, this is an incredible cover of an already incredible song. the spooky guitar reverb added to the verses puts a unique Radiohead spin on it.

This is a remarkable album.
Its warm, melty bits. Its weird, jagged edges. The colours, the textures...
This was one of the most experimental things I'd ever heard a so-called rock band do at that time.
It got near constant play in my rotation back then. It continues to be one of the most interesting albums I've ever heard.
Been a while. Going to have to give it another spin.

Birra Moretti time, & #NowPlaying #KidA from the 2022 #KidAmnesia by #Radiohead.
I didn’t fully get Kid A on release - it took a little time to acclimatise to its strangeness, but, listening to it now, #EverythingInItsRightPlace, #TheNationalAnthem, #HowToDisappearCompletely, &#MotionPictureSoundtrack are compulsive, compelling & quite brilliant.
This is mastered by #BobLudwig & is flat, clean, centred & improves on the UK OG. But not night & day.

Die Mehrheit der Kinder zwischen 3 und 15 Jahren (92%) hat nach Angaben ihrer Eltern eine sehr gute oder gute allgemeine Gesundheit. Bei 15% der Kinder hat sie sich im Vergleich zur Zeit vor der #Pandemie verschlechtert. Das zeigen Ergebnisse aus #KIDA.
