Ein Foto von Ohad #Zwigenberg von Associated Press auf der Titelseite von #Haaretz sagte mehr als tausend Worte. Es zeigte einen IDF-#Soldaten in einem #Kinderzimmer in #Gaza, der seinen Fuß auf einem Bett abstützt. Die rosafarbenen Wände des Zimmers, die eine ruhige Atmosphäre schaffen sollten, konnten den #Horror nicht verbergen: Das Zimmer war ein einziges Durcheinander, zerrissen und zerfetzt, nur eine haarlose Puppe lag auf dem Bett und erinnerte den Betrachter daran, dass dies das Zimmer eines Kindes war, das nie wieder als solches dienen wird. Seine Bewohner flohen um ihr Leben oder wurden getötet, oder beides.
Das Zimmer im Gazastreifen sah genauso aus wie die zerstörten Kinderzimmer, die ich am Morgen nach dem #Massaker im #Kibbutz Be'eri sah. Man kann nicht umhin, über das Schicksal der kleinen #Bewohner hier und dort nachzudenken. Wenn die Kinder in Be'eri überlebt haben, können sie zumindest auf eine bessere Zukunft hoffen. Am Samstagmittag gab der stellvertretende #Gesundheitsminister von #Hamas, Yousuf Abu al-Arish, aus dem Al-Shifa #Krankenhaus in Gaza bekannt, dass 39 #Frühgeborenen der #Tod durch #Ersticken droht, nachdem die #Generatoren abgeschaltet und die #Sauerstoffzufuhr zu ihren #Inkubatoren unterbrochen wurde. #AlArish rief aus: "Das ist der Moment, vor dem wir gewarnt haben." Draußen lag bereits ein Haufen von 100 #Leichen, die nicht identifiziert werden konnten und in weiße Leichentücher gehüllt waren. Sie konnten nicht zur #Bestattung gebracht werden, da das Krankenhaus unter #Belagerung stand und von allen Seiten von #Panzern umgeben war. Das #Rantisi Kinderkrankenhaus ist belagert, niemand kann es betreten oder verlassen. Auch das #AlNasr-#Kinderkrankenhaus funktioniert nicht mehr und alle kranken und verletzten Kinder wurden evakuiert, Gott weiß wohin. Entscheiden Sie sich. Wählen Sie eine Seite. Welche toten Kinder schockieren Sie mehr? Welche hinterbliebenen Eltern beunruhigen Sie mehr? In the fascist reality now sweeping Israel, even such a statement is considered treasonous and an expression of Israel hatred. How dare you compare?
A photo by Associated Press’s Ohad #Zwigenberg on the front page of #Haaretz was worth a thousand words. It showed an IDF soldier inside a #child’s room in #Gaza, his foot resting on a bed. The room’s pink walls, intended to create a calm atmosphere, could not conceal the #horror: the room was a mess, torn and tattered, with only a hairless doll strewn on the bed, reminding viewers that this was the room of a child, which will never serve as one again. Its inhabitants fled for their lives or were killed, or both.
The Gazan room looked exactly like the destroyed children’s rooms I saw in #Kibbutz Be’eri on the morning after the #massacre. One cannot avoid thinking about the fate of their little #inhabitants, both here and there. If the children in Be’eri survived, they can at least hope for a better future. If the children in #Gaza survived, no hope awaits them.

Al-Arish cried out: “This is the moment we’ve been warning about.” Outside, there was already a pile of 100 bodies which had not been identified, covered in white shrouds. They could not be brought to #burial, since the hospital was under #siege, surrounded on all sides by #tanks. The #wounded and #sick, as well as the #dead, could no longer be extricated from the inferno.
Shortly afterward, Prof. Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian doctor who had volunteered at the hospital in all the previous wars but was now stuck in #Cairo, stated that #Israeli #snipers had spread out around the hospital and were shooting at it. One #nurse on the premature baby ward was killed.

One cannot maintain equanimity in view of these scenes. Even after the visits to kibbutzim and towns in the south the day after the massacre, even after being exposed to all the horrors that took place there. Even after all the stories of the survivors and the dead, and even after watching the movie put out by the IDF spokesperson. One cannot escape being horrified by what is now happening in Gaza, even in the knowledge of what lies underneath those hospitals.
No less horrific is the recognition that one must now take sides: You are either shocked by the atrocities committed by Hamas, or by the atrocities committed by the IDF. Decide. Choose sides. Which dead children shock you more? Which bereaved parents trouble you more? Can you not see the difference between Hamas, which came here to massacre, and an army that came to save hostages and wipe out Hamas? I can indeed, but the butchered children, and their no-less butchered #parents, have little interest in the intentions of their #killers.
On both sides, they didn’t deserve to die. Their #killing is equally shocking, and there is no reason in the world to be #apologetic about taking this stance.

One cannot maintain equanimity in view of these scenes. Even after the visits to kibbutzim and towns in the south the day after the massacre, even after being exposed to all the horrors that took place there. Even after all the stories of the survivors and the dead, and even after watching the movie put out by the IDF spokesperson. One cannot escape being horrified by what is now happening in Gaza, even in the knowledge of what lies underneath those hospitals.
No less horrific is the recognition that one must now take sides: You are either shocked by the atrocities committed by Hamas, or by the atrocities committed by the IDF. Decide. Choose sides. Which dead children shock you more? Which bereaved parents trouble you more? Can you not see the difference between Hamas, which came here to massacre, and an army that came to save hostages and wipe out Hamas? I can indeed, but the butchered children, and their no-less butchered #parents, have little interest in the intentions of their #killers.
On both sides, they didn’t deserve to die. Their #killing is equally shocking, and there is no reason in the world to be #apologetic about taking this stance.

The room’s pink walls, intended to create a calm atmosphere, could not conceal the #horror: the room was a mess, torn and tattered, with only a hairless doll strewn on the bed, reminding viewers that this was the room of a child, which will never serve as one again. Its inhabitants fled for their lives or were killed, or both.
The Gazan room looked exactly like the destroyed children’s rooms I saw in #Kibbutz Be’eri on the morning after the #massacre. One cannot avoid thinking about the fate of their little #inhabitants, both here and there. If the children in Be’eri survived, they can at least hope for a better future. If the children in #Gaza survived, no hope awaits them.

Midday Saturday, #Hamas’ deputy health minister, Yousuf Abu al-Arish, speaking from the Al-Shifa #Hospital in Gaza, announced that 39 premature #babies are facing imminent death from #suffocation, after #generators shut down, cutting off #oxygen flow to their #incubators. Al-Arish cried out: “This is the moment we’ve been warning about.” Outside, there was already a pile of 100 bodies which had not been identified, covered in white shrouds. They could not be brought to #burial, since the hospital was under #siege, surrounded on all sides by #tanks. The #wounded and #sick, as well as the #dead, could no longer be extricated from the inferno.
Shortly afterward, Prof. Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian doctor who had volunteered at the hospital in all the previous wars but was now stuck in #Cairo, stated that #Israeli #snipers had spread out around the hospital and were shooting at it. One #nurse on the premature baby ward was killed.
Photos from# lShifa Hospital before it was cut off showed dozens of bleeding wounded people lying on the floor, and a shrieking father rushing towards his dead infant, who was also strewn on the floor. Hell is there. Dr. Tanya Haj-Hassan, a #physician from #DoctorsWithoutBorders, said she had no words left.
There were 4,506 dead children by Friday night. Forty thousand housing units have been totally destroyed. Half of Gaza lies in rubble. The #Rantisi children’s hospital is under siege, with no one able to enter or leave. CW: Kibbutz massacre hostage describes her experience
I've seen lots of posts on here claim that #Hamas "beheaded 40 babies" in #KfarAza, the #kibbutz near Gaza where Hamas attacked the #IDF. But journalists who visited the site are refuting such claims, and those hostages who have been freed are reporting that they were treated with humanely by the militants who captured them.
In the video linked below the captive says that she was with her kids, they were not abused, the militants were friendly and even asked whether they could have a banana. Doesn't sound like the kind of people so evil that they cut the heads off infants and flail their entrails all over the place as the Western media is claiming.
If you are one of the people who has spread such malicious, racist lies you should either make the effort to post a correction and apology, or be honest that you are a genocidal racist participating in an effort to justify the cutting off of all water, fuel and electricity to #Gaza in an escalation of the 17 year long seige to levels of depravity not seen since the Nazi blockade on Stalingrad.
If you are a #Jew and spreading such horrid propaganda, you need to think about what it means that you are employing the same tactics of defamation used to justify a millenia of #antisemitic violence in #Europe.

If you had a decent amount of 'fuck you' money... what would you do with it?
I want to make an intentional community on lots of land thats both wooded and able to be farmed... hopefully with a river.
I want to have a bunch of year-round yurts in the woods... all connected by wood planks. Some bigger, some smaller.
I'd want people to be able to live in some of the yurts... whether as couples, families, coliving... whatever-- and then I'd want the other yurts to be 'community room' type things. A kitchen, a dining room (maybe together), a rec room or a few, things like that.
On the farmable land, we would do just that-- animals and fruits and vegetables. We would use as much of all of our bounty as possible. The rest could be donated, preserved, composted... etc etc.
I still want an intentional community, and I want to make as much of this come true as possible. I guess I just need the fuck you money.
