#DOJ announced charges Tuesday in the 2024 collapse of #Baltimore’s #KeyBridge, accusing the #Singapore based operator of a ship & a key employee of making critical decisions that led to the disaster & the deaths of 6 people.

The indictment names Synergy Marine Pte Ltd, of Singapore, & Synergy Maritime Pte Ltd, of Chennai, #India. Radhakrishnan Karthik Nair, 47, an Indian national who was technical superintendent for the Dali container ship, was also charged.

These are from when we built Genie Internet for Cellnet - Originally on the Telex floor (where Wireplay was), and then we had to move it up to the 5th or 6th onto my office floor, where the corporate networks hung out. This was the install record, sadly taken on a 1999 digital camera, sorry! I had a skim, there's nothing in there that would be considered classified these days.

The Celnet Genie service, which we designed as an "ISP in a box", was pretty amazing, really, especially for an essentially free ISP.

Also, it's one of those odd jobs where you end up as both lead applications architect, systems manager, server builder, removal dude, and underfloor cable rat and crimper in the same project. I feel jobs like that in big corporations tend not to exist any more.

The Maryland Transportation Authority Police apparently noticed the ship losing power and rushed to block off traffic before the ship hit.

They also noted there was a work crew on the bridge and looks like they made initial notifications to try and warn the foreman of the crew. Sadly, they obviously weren't successful per scanner traffic.
