Originally released in 2000, but issued on vinyl for the first time in 2023, this is Willie singing the blues, with guests including Francine Reed, Keb’ Mo’, Jonny Lang, Dr. John, Susan Tedeschi, B.B. King, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd (doing a mean “Texas Flood”).

Mix of Wilie’s own songs plus covers (“The Thrill is Gone.” “Ain’t Nobody’s Business,” “Sittin’ On Top Of The World”) from the genre. Artwork (“cow illustrations”) by Micah Nelson. Band is full of Austin studio stalwarts – Jon Blondell, George Rains, Derek O’Brien, and Riley Osbourn, sometimes joined by Mickey Raphael on Harmonica.

I had not been to an arena or other large rock concert in nearly 30 years for a myriad of reasons. In the last 18 months I’ve seen Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Don McLean, Tori Amos, Paramore, and now Shinedown.

I even bought a shirt. Gonna wear it to first hour math class today. :-) 🤘🏻

I like to sit a during part of the show now, and I wear hearing protection that attenuates the sound a bit.
