  2. The Independent wrote, "Blonde and brassy and up for as much fun as it's possible to have in PVC - which, I would imagine, is quite a lot - Kenickie tear through their debut album with the kind of spirit that shames the week's other releases. Smells, in fact, like teen spirit, but with all self-pity swept aside by sheer force of personality."

  3. "Nightlife" - Kenickie

Re-released to promote their forthcoming album "At the Club", swagger and glitter and glamour covering up the pain of rejection. May have taken a copy of this single across to Newfoundland, explain what Brem X Jones and Phil and i were babbling on about.

Second and final appearance for Lauren, Emmy-Kate, Marie, and Johnny. Lauren never hosted #TOTP, she was on Channel 4's "Planet Pop" which morphed into "Popworld".

  4. Kenickie - "In your car"

Went to see these gals on tour at the end of the month. Just before the set began, the fire alarms went off and we all had to evacuate the club. Lauren and Marie led an impromptu singalong in the car park while we waited to go back in. Never got back in. Still had an A1 night.

  5. Great news for all listeners: Lauren Laverne given all clear.

Back on your wireless faster than you can remember the other members of her old band.

  6. Kenickie were a Sunderland-based BritPop band that had a pop-punk bend to their music. Tbh they were more known for their onstage antics (they’d do some really funny skits and banter). Post their 1998 breakup, Frontwoman Lauren Laverne now works for BBC Radio you can listen to some of her stuff here (bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02nrv0l/) & here (bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00c000j)

  7. On a big Kenickie trip at the moment. I don't think they ever topped this though.

"And as I spit my dying wish
    You're listening to something else"
